Struggling with allergies and noticing changes in your hearing? 🤧

Here’s why: Allergens trigger histamine. Histamine causes inflammation and mucus. Inflammation and mucus can block your ear pathways.

All of this can lead to:
- Muffled hearing
- Pressure or discomfort
- Even infections in some cases

If your ears feel “off” during allergy season, it’s not your imagination!

Did you know seasonal allergies can impact your ears? 🌼

Allergic reactions can cause swelling and mucus buildup that affects:
- The outer ear by blocking sound
- The middle ear with fluid buildup and pressure
- The inner ear by worsening existing conditions

It’s all connected, and it often boils down to inflammation.

Allergies aren’t just about sneezing and itchy eyes. 🤧 They can affect your hearing too. 👂

When your body reacts to allergens, like the pollen that’s all too familiar this time of year, it releases histamine that causes inflammation and mucus buildup. This can block sound in your ears or affect how your ears drain properly, leading to temporary hearing issues.

If your hearing feels off during allergy season, your ears might just be reacting too!

Did you know stress can affect your hearing? 😵‍💫 April is Stress Awareness Month, so let's talk about it.

Chronic stress can reduce blood flow to the inner ear, increase cortisol levels, and raise blood pressure, all of which may lead to hearing loss, tinnitus, or a “full” ear feeling.

Common signs are ringing or buzzing, muffled hearing, sensitivity to noise, and even dizziness.

The good news is that managing stress can help protect your hearing. Take care of your mind AND your ears!

Some foods may help keep you steady on your feet. 🫐🥬🍅

Nutrients like potassium, folate, and antioxidants (found in blueberries, kale, and tomatoes) support the inner ear’s balance system by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress that can impair vestibular function and hearing.

Check out this graphic for a few foods to add into your diet for better hearing and balance!
