September is National Emergency Preparedness Month. This year’s theme, “Preparedness Starts at Home,” focuses on getting back to the essentials of readiness🌀✅

There are four key actions you can take to better prepare for disasters: Know your risk, make a family emergency plan, build an emergency supply kit, and get involved in your community.

Start by understanding the risks where you live so you can take steps to stay safe. Create a family plan to reduce stress and confusion when emergencies happen. Build an emergency kit that includes water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, a weather radio, first aid supplies, hygiene items, important documents, extra clothing, and essential medications!

Having a go-bag ready can save valuable time during an evacuation. Getting involved in your community and learning basic first aid can also make a difference when seconds matter!
