🌟 Potential Risks & How We Prevent Them in Placenta Encapsulation🌟
When it comes to encapsulating your placenta, safety is my top priority. Here’s how I ensure a clean and secure process:
✔ Sanitary Conditions: Each placenta is prepared in a clean, sanitized workspace—often in your home—to prevent contamination.
✔ Proper Dehydration & Storage: Your placenta is dehydrated at a safe temperature, ensuring no mold or bacteria can develop. Rest assured, it will never be ground before fully dehydrated.
✔ Avoiding Cross-Contamination: All tools and surfaces are disinfected, and I only process one placenta at a time to prevent any risk of bloodborne pathogens.
✔ Safe Placenta Handling: Keeping your placenta on ice after birth is essential. Following proper storage guidelines helps keep it safe for encapsulation.
🚫 Reasons I May Not Be Able to Encapsulate:
In some cases, placenta consumption may not be safe, including:
Improper Storage: If left at room temperature for over 4–5 hours or in the fridge for more than 4–5 days without freezing.
Pathology Testing: Risk of contamination if sent for testing.
Infections or Medical Concerns: Conditions like chorioamnionitis can pose risks.
Substance Use: Heavy smoking, drug use, or certain medications can make encapsulation unsafe.
Abnormalities: Issues like placental cancer or genetic disorders may render encapsulation unsuitable.
Unusual Appearance: Signs of contamination like mucousy blood could mean encapsulation is not recommended.
💡 What You Can Do to Keep Your Placenta Safe:
Plan Ahead: Bring a small cooler to the hospital for proper storage.
Label Your Placenta: Make sure hospital staff knows you’re keeping it.
Refrigerate or Freeze Promptly:
If not ready for immediate encapsulation, refrigerate or freeze it quickly.
Communicate: If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out!
I’m dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and professional experience. While most placentas are great for encapsulation, safety always comes first. If you have questions, I'm here to help! 💖
