DOERUN, GA – Bruce Alan Henry, 64, of Doerun, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 14, 2025, at Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Mr. Tim Henry and the Reverend Dr. David Benton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born September 8, 1960, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of Betty Hatcher Henry and the late Dean Henry. Mr. Bruce was a long-time farmer in Colquitt County. He enjoyed building cars and racing. Mr. Bruce was a good son and husband who loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Farmer Henry.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Hatcher Henry, brother, Tim Henry and wife Bonnie; nieces and nephews, Brittany Walden and husband Chad, Lee Henry and wife Jenny, Lee Henry and wife Ginny, Dawn Stone, Dutch Van D**e and wife Jennifer, Dan Van D**e; several other great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

MOULTRIE, GA – Peggy Ann Norman, 86, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in China Grove Church Cemetery with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating.

The family will greet friends after the service in China Grove Church Cemetery.

Born April 3, 1938, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Luther Columbus Norman and Cora Tillman Norman. Mrs. Peggy worked as a teacher for 31 years in the Atlanta School System helping to positively shape the lives of countless students. She was a kind-hearted woman and was willing to help anyone in need. Mrs. Peggy loved her nieces and nephews as her own children. She was a member of First Baptist Church Moultrie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wyman Luther Norman, Sr. and Bobby Joe Norman; and nephew, Wyman Luther “Buck” Norman, Jr.

Survivors include her sister, Sue Stout; brother, Wandall Norman, Sr. and wife Debbie; nieces, Jeanie Meister and Kym Stout Sorrells; nephews, R. Nick Norman, Lynn Lee Stout, Jr., Michael Stout, Randall Scott Norman and Wandall Tillman Norman, Jr.; several great nieces and great nephews along with other extended family members and friends.

MOULTRIE, GA – William Benny Hancock, 71, of Moultrie, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born July 12, 1953, in Lowndes County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Willard Benjamin Hancock and Orene Singletary Hancock. Mr. Benny was a wonderful husband, stepfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed watching westerns, going fishing and bowling. Mr. Benny was a local farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Myra Dianne Hancock; stepchildren, David Ogletree, Derek Ogletree, Jessica Ogletree, Austin Ogletree and wife Geanna; nine grandchildren; siblings Janice Lowery, Glenn Hancock, Pat Hancock; several other extended family members and friends.

MOULTRIE, GA – Jack Daniel Gordon, 93, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Golden Apple.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 AM Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Kendall Sloan, Carson Asbell, Brett Asbell, Landen Croft, Dion Croft, and Terry Baldree.

Born September 20, 1931, in Colquitt County, Georgia, he was the son of the late J.W. Gordon and Lois Weeks Gordon. Mr. Jack retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant after a career of 23 years. He served in the Vietnam War in 1968, where he received four Battle Stars and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Jack also retired from law enforcement with 20 years of service. He was a Deputy Sheriff in Colquitt County, a Police Chief for many years in Coolidge and Berlin Georgia, and a Bailiff for several years in Colquitt County Superior Court. Mr. Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW, Moultrie Shrine Club, Lions Club, and an active member of the YMCA. He was the past president for both the Moultrie Shrine Club and the Lion Club. Mr. Jack will always be remembered as a humble, honest man who loved his family dearly and enjoyed having fellowship with everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Trudy Bauer Gordon; daughter, Gisela Smith and her partner Steve; granddaughter, Sheila Croft; son-in-law, Jack Gay.

Survivors include his children, Judy Gay, Sherry Jean Chrisley and husband Dave, Margrit Gordon; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; several other extended family members and friends.

MOULTRIE, GA.- Joan Belinda Horne Harrell, 77, died Friday, February 7, 2025, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Mr. Michael Bowers. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born September 24, 1947, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Horne and Mary Hamm Horne. Mrs. Belinda was a homemaker who cherished her family dearly. She loved to spend time outside with her children and animals. Mrs. Belinda was a good baker and who was famous for her dumplings. She loved her church family at World Wide Church of God where she was a faithful member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John “JW” Harrell; and brothers, Larry Horne and Lloyd Horne.

Survivors include her son, Douglas Harrell; daughter, Lee Harrell Veal and husband Brian; sisters, Barbara Ann Deen and Colleen Wisham; brothers, Charles Horne and wife Bernice and Michael Horne and wife Shirley; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

MOULTRIE, GA. - Jack Presley passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at the age of 89. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and hard work.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2025, at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Dion Brown officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church.

Casketbearers will be Jason Presley, Lamar Simpson, Davy Simpson, Steve Edwards, Andy Whittaker, Stan Meadows, and Keith Clark.

Born and raised with a love for the land, Jack was a lifelong farmer. His days were marked by honesty, dedication, and a deep respect for nature. Even after retiring from farming, his passion for the land never waned. Whether he was mowing, planting seasonal gardens, or filling his yard with vibrant plants of every color, his hands were always busy nurturing the world around him.

One of his greatest joys was tending to his beloved pecan trees, never missing a season of harvest. He also enjoyed bird hunting, arrowhead hunting, and fishing, traditions he proudly saw his great-grandchildren begin to embrace, bringing him immense joy in his later years as he watched them create their own memories on the land he loved so dearly. A proud member of New Bethel Baptist Church for 78 years, Jack served his church family with unwavering devotion. He spent many years teaching Sunday School, serving as a deacon, and singing faithfully in the church choir. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.

Perhaps what Jack will be remembered for most is the deep and abiding love he shared with his adoring wife of 69 years, Claudie Mae. Together, they built a beautiful family, rooted in love, faith, and strong values that endure in the hearts and lives of their descendants. Rarely seen apart, their bond was a beautiful testament to a life well-lived together, finding joy in the simplest of moments.

Jack’s legacy of faith, love, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Lee “Papa Joe” Presley and Clyde Tucker “Mama Joe” Cooper Presley; siblings, Betty Clark, Billy Presley.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Claudia Mae Stephenson Presley; children, Debbie Presley Moore and Leslie, Amos Lee Presley; grandchildren, Nicole West and Sarah, Meghan Coleman and Todd; great-grandchildren, Bo Coleman, Hardy West, Bailey Coleman, Sutton West; siblings, Wanda Simpson and David, James Presley and Betsy, Jerald Presley and Dianne; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
