Meet Dr. Caleb Rowan!

Dr. Rowan is a first-year resident at Georgia South Psychiatry who brings a passion for communication, connection, and Christ-centered care to his work!

After earning his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and attending medical school at the University of Florida, he chose Moultrie for its close-knit community, exceptional training, and welcoming atmosphere. He values the opportunity to build meaningful doctor–patient relationships and to support both emotional and physical well-being. Dr. Rowan was drawn to Colquitt Regional’s reputation for compassionate care and a culture that allows residents to truly thrive!

Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing guitar, basketball, chess, and embracing adventure.

October 9th is National Depression Screening Day. Depression is more than just feeling sad — it can affect your sleep, energy, focus, and relationships. Common signs include:
• Persistent sadness or hopelessness
• Loss of interest in activities
• Changes in appetite or sleep
• Fatigue or low energy
• Difficulty concentrating

Early screening can make a big difference. Talk to your primary care provider about a referral to Georgia South Psychiatry.

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on Kristoff Cohran, our Program Administrator! Kristoff has successfully completed the 10-month Graduate Medical Education (GME) Development Fellowship, a prestigious program hosted by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and the UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research👏🥳

Through this inaugural fellowship, Kristoff joined leaders from across the nation to explore innovative strategies in GME development, work alongside expert mentors, and design projects that strengthen rural healthcare, expand physician training, address maternal health needs, and advance policy! His achievement not only reflects his dedication and leadership, but also reinforces our commitment to growing and advancing medical education in South Georgia, especially in the field of psychiatry!

One of our interns, Dr. Sami Khan, shines a light on an important but often overlooked topic—su***de prevention. September is Su***de Awareness Month, a crucial time to remind everyone that help is available and you’re never alone.

Did you know that su***de is a leading cause of death worldwide, and each year, nearly 800,000 people die by su***de? Mental health challenges affect 1 in 5 people annually, yet many do not seek professional help due to stigma or lack of resources. Early intervention and open conversations can save lives. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out—support is here🩵💜
