We had an incredible time representing Delta Health Center at during the National Association of Community Health Centers conference in Chicago! 🌍✨

Health centers from across the United States came together to share ideas, celebrate achievements, and tackle the challenges facing community health today. As the first federally qualified health center in the United States, we were honored to be part of such an inspiring event especially as we celebrate 60 years of improving our nation’s health. ❤️

Today we recognize the diverse and often underserved populations that Community Health Centers care for by handing out hygiene items to out patients at all clinic locations.

💙 Today, Delta Health Center proudly serves over 10,000 patients annually across 11+ locations in the Greater Delta Region — continuing our mission of providing quality, accessible care to those who need it most.
And we’re part of a much bigger impact:
✔️ 1 in 5 rural residents
✔️ 1 in 5 people who rely on Medicaid for coverage
✔️ 1 in 8 children
✔️ 490,000 veterans
✔️ 1.12 million school-based patients

For more than 50 years, Delta Health Center, Inc. has proudly provided health care to some of the most vulnerable communities in the Mississippi Delta. With over 11 locations serving the greater Delta region, we remain committed to your health, your family, and your future.

🏥 Founded in 1965 in the historic, all-African American town of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, Delta Health Center holds the proud distinction of being the first rural Community Health Center and the first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the United States.

Co-founded by Tufts University physicians Dr. H. Jack Geiger and Dr. Count Gibson, our roots run deep in social justice, civil rights, and a bold vision to interrupt cycles of poverty and poor health through comprehensive, community-centered care.

In our early years, we didn’t just treat patients we dug wells, built privies, created cooperative farms, and trained local residents to become health leaders. We’ve always believed that health goes beyond the clinic walls.
