It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Kansas City!
Warmth and kindness are spreading throughout the community as local hospices received cozy socks to help brighten the season. Through a partnership with Senior Helpers Home Care, several older adults will also enjoy a thoughtful holiday gift delivered personally by their certified nursing assistant.
Neptune Service Manager Julie Walter-Davis embraced the spirit of the season by attending celebrations with Professionals in Aging, the Case Management Association, Morningside Memory Care, and the KC Regional Home Care Association. She also shared her homemade baked goods with Monarch Hospice and Luminary Hospice, adding an extra touch of holiday cheer.

This holiday season, the Neptune corporate team's food donations to Feeding South Florida added up to 581 pounds, which translates to 484 meals – far exceeding even last year's donations.
At a time when so many are struggling, we are deeply grateful for everyone's generosity.

Neptune Kansas City Service Manager Julie Walter-Davis and her daughter Mandi represented Neptune Society at the annual Dazzling Divas event to raise funds and awareness for those suffering from cancer. The money assists cancer patients with costs such as transportation, meal supplements, and other necessities.

Neptune, a co-sponsor, provided a basket for the silent auction.

“This is near and dear to our hearts as we have lost members of our family and also watched some fight and win the battle,” Julie said. “One Community Hospice & Palliative Care Hospice is also a big supporter.”

It’s almost time for the 15th Annual Gratitude Challenge. 💫 It begins on November 1, goes all month long, and everyone is welcome to join in!

Gratitude is one of the best ways to cope with difficult times, and it’s something we need now more than ever.

If you’re new to the Challenge, it’s a way to practice gratitude throughout November by sharing something you’re thankful for related to the daily prompts.

You can post on social media (and use the hashtag if you want others who’re participating see it, too) — or you can simply play along without posting!

Use the prompts as a guide to reflect on how you’re grateful for that aspect of life. You can use the prompts in order (as I’ll be doing), mix ‘em up, or make up your own.

More details about the Challenge and info about each prompt (that can help spark ideas if you feel stuck!) can be found here: It’s almost time for the 15th Annual Gratitude Challenge. 💫 It begins on November 1, goes all month long, and everyone is welcome to join in! More details can be found here: https://positivelypresent.com/2025/10/the-15th-annual-gratitude-challenge.html

As always, the Challenge is meant to inspire gratitude and promote thankfulness, so don’t feel pressured to post every day. Focusing on gratitude — not adding additional stress! — is the purpose, so go at your own pace, join in any time, make up your own prompts, and have fun!

Spooky fun and education were on the agenda when Neptune Kansas City Service Manger Julie Walter-Davis represented Neptune at the Cass County Health Fair, making sure residents know we are available to serve their cremation needs.
On the spooky side, Julie staffed a table at the Fireman’s Local 42 Boo Bash, where her son is a member, and ended the week at The Groves Senior Living community Trunk and Treat with her faithful “Dalmatian,” aka Nellie the schnauzer, at her side. Nellie is a frequent visitor at assisted living communities in the area. Keep your eye out, as we have it on good authority that Cruella is not done visiting this year!
