Community is more important than ever. What does it mean to truly support someone? To be supportive is to show up without judgment, to recognize when someone is struggling, and to walk with them through it—remembering the times you’ve struggled and needed someone too.
It’s being the person you once wished you had. Life is messy, relationships are hard, but leaning on your people and being there for them matters. It’s the idea of “it takes a village,” but also remembering to be part of the village for others. If you want the village to support you, you must also support the village.
Face-to-face connections give us hope. Listening—really listening—can spark a ripple effect. A simple act of support can change someone’s day and maybe even someone’s life.
With that in mind, Warrior Wellness is looking to start a support group for adults ages 30 and older. The theme will be overall wellness—especially for those living with chronic pain, chronic stress, or any kind of chronic illness. This will be a space to talk, listen, learn, feel supported, and grow together.
I’d love to know if this is something you’d be interested in. I’m taking a poll to see how much interest there is, and your feedback means a lot. Respond to the poll in my story, comment on this post, or send me a DM.

Confession: I haven’t been to the doctor in over two years. Yeah, I had “good” excuses—started a business, quit my corporate job, had a baby—but truthfully, I just didn’t make it a priority.

Every time I ask my clients, “When was the last time you saw your primary?” a little voice in my head says, “Uh, when was the last time YOU went?”

I know better. I preach self-advocacy all the time. But when it’s my turn? I procrastinate, convince myself I’m the exception, and avoid dealing with a healthcare system that frustrates me.

But here’s the reality: I have a daughter. I need to take care of myself.

So, after months of dragging my feet, I finally booked the appointment. I’m going in prepared—list of meds, questions ready, and a promise to slow down instead of rushing through it.

Because here’s the thing: no one will ever value your health more than you do.

So here I am… doing the thing.

Something pretty awesome happened this morning, and I think it’s worth sharing because it’s so relatable.

A client came in today and absolutely crushed their workout—despite walking in saying, “I’m dragging today.” It’s Saturday, the weather is beautiful, and there are plenty of things that sound more fun. We even joked that it would have been really nice to be sitting outside drinking coffee. But instead, we were in my basement suite, about to work out.

Here’s why that’s impressive:

They showed up. They got dressed, got in the car, drove here, and walked through my door. At any point, they could have texted to cancel, but they didn’t.

They started moving. The workout was at their own pace—go as hard or as easy as they wanted. They began with a light warm-up, and before I knew it, they were carrying 40 lbs and throwing 15 lbs at me for chest passes.

Once you start, one of two things can happen: you realize you’re feeling better and push a little harder, or you confirm you’re low on energy and adjust to something lighter, like mobility work. Either way, you’ve still moved your body.

This client may not have felt motivated, but they sure as hell are determined. Motivation comes and goes (trust me, I’m notorious for losing it. Just ask my family), but determination keeps you going and helps you adapt. Not every workout starts with Olympic-level excitement.

Today, this client ended up having an exceptional workout, and we both ended it feeling happier, accomplished and more excited for the rest of our day!

The takeaway? Just show up. See what happens. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it doesn’t have to be pretty.

Courage vs. Bravery

“Bravery is being unafraid of something other people are afraid of. Courage is being afraid, but strong enough to do it anyway.” - Taylor Jenkins Reid - Astronomer

It means you feel the fear and choose to move forward anyway.

We all have that strength inside of us.

I don’t think people realize how much courage they already carry or how capable they are of being courageous. Think back on the choices you’ve made in your life—those moments where you pushed through doubt, fear, or uncertainty. That was courage.

You are courageous.

So whatever that thing is you’ve been hesitating to do… do the thing.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to meet Terry Lewis, LCSW-C, a private psychotherapist who incorporates horses into her practice—also known as equine facilitated psychotherapy. We met at the beautiful farm she works out of in Damascus called Mezza Luna Farm, and from the moment I arrived, I was struck by how peaceful and serene the space felt. The farm itself is breathtaking, and then came my next realization—horses are big! I don’t get much chance to be around them, and honestly, I was a little nervous at first. I’m much more of a dog person, if you know what I mean.

Terry immediately put me at ease. She walked me through the facility, introduced me to her four horses, and gave me the most fascinating lesson on why horses are so powerful in therapy. I learned that because horses are prey animals, they’re incredibly sensitive to the energy around them—they can pick up on things long before humans can. Watching them respond and interact was eye-opening.

What stood out to me most was Terry herself. She has been in the field for over 30 years and has had her horses for nearly the same amount of time. Her passion for therapy and her love for her animals radiate from her. She brings such a sense of calmness and wisdom into her work—qualities I deeply admire and aspire to bring into my own practice.

At one point, she asked me, “Would you like to spend some time with the horses and see if there’s one you connect with more?” That simple question felt so refreshing. Too often, in medical or therapeutic settings, we’re told what to do with little regard for how we actually feel. Being given space to connect with myself in that way—while surrounded by nature and these amazing animals—was something I didn’t even know I needed.

Even though my time with Terry wasn’t a therapy session, I left feeling happy, at peace, and surprisingly optimistic. In a world where so many of us feel disconnected—not just from others but from ourselves—experiences like this remind me that there are people out there, like Terry, doing extraordinary work to help others heal and reconnect.

If you’ve ever been curious about equine therapy, or you just want to know more about what she does, I can’t recommend enough that you check out her website: https://www.greatstrides.org/.

The world needs more people like Terry. I feel so grateful to know her and so lucky to have her as a resource in my community.

May 28th marked one year since I officially opened the doors to Warrior Wellness. I’ve had to wait until now to post about it because I couldn’t find the right words to express how I feel about this milestone. So much has happened in my life in such a short time. To say it’s been a learning experience is an understatement. I am, simultaneously, the happiest and the most stressed I’ve ever been 😅

But the stress I feel now is different from the stress I felt before this year. This is the kind of stress that motivates me to take action — the kind that pushes me to grow and do better. I’ve done a lot of learning, not just about running a business or building my skills for my clients, but about myself, too.

My grandmother was actually the first person to tell me about the Serenity Prayer. She shared it with me at a time in my life when it didn’t really have much meaning — I was just a kid, so it didn’t quite land yet. Funny enough, she was also one of the biggest influences on my life. She used to say, “You should become a masseuse!” (I used to rub her shoulders and back for her.) I’ve been thinking about her a lot lately, and I wanted to dedicate this post in her memory.

The Serenity Prayer really hits home for me. Let me tell you — I’ve had to really practice this. I can’t count how many times someone has said to me, “Why are you worrying about that right now? What can you even do about it?” For the longest time, those words went in one ear and out the other. I am a chronic worrier. But taking the time to pause and ask myself, “Is there something I can actually do about this right now?” has opened up so much room for action and positive change.

I think we can all tuck that saying into our back pockets and pull it out when we need it most. It can apply to so many things in life — especially when it comes to keeping ourselves healthy and strong. And “healthy and strong” can mean so many different things.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey with me — family, friends, clients, teachers, mentors... everyone. I wouldn’t be here without you. Here’s to many more years to come!

What is stress, really?
Definition-wise, stress is typically described as a physical, mental, or emotional response to any demand or challenge—good or bad. It's your body’s way of reacting to something that feels threatening or overwhelming.

There’s the scientific side, too: stress is the body’s response to a stressor—anything from work pressure and health issues to even positive changes like a new job. This response activates your "fight or flight" system, flooding your body with hormones like cortisol and adrenaline to help you cope.

Then there’s emotional and mental stress, which often shows up as feeling overwhelmed, anxious, irritable, or just worn down because life is asking too much from you—or it feels like it is. When you say “I’m stressed,” it’s usually about that invisible weight you’re carrying. Maybe your mind and body are in overdrive, and you can’t seem to catch a break.

Here’s what’s important to remember:
Your body doesn’t always distinguish between physical, emotional, or mental stress. It handles them the same way. And spending too much time in that fight or flight state? It can be detrimental to your health over time.

Giving yourself a break—even a short one—isn’t just helpful, it’s necessary. Those moments of pause help your body step out of survival mode and begin to reset.

Rest isn’t a reward. It’s essential.
