🌟 September Is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month! 🌟
At Surry Medical Associates, we're dedicated to supporting families in nurturing healthy habits early. Did you know that September is officially recognized by the CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity as a time to focus on childhood obesity and healthy growth?
Here are simple ways to help children grow up strong and healthy:
1. Encourage Daily Play & Less Screen Time
Kids (especially ages 3–5) should be physically active throughout the day. Try fun family dances, backyard games, or active play breaks—and reduce screen time whenever possible

2. Make Healthy Eating Fun
Offer colorful, whole foods—fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins—and limit sugary treats

3. Set the Tone at Home
Lead by example—model balanced meals, stay active together, and make mealtimes device-free to encourage mindful eating and stronger family bonds.
