We’re incredibly proud of Dr. Leah Yarboro, DPT, MBA, CWS, CLT-LANA for representing Renew Wound Care Center at the Northern Lights Wound Workshop in Iceland and for being named the first physical therapist to receive the Aurora Clinical Excellence Award.

Dr. Leah was asked to present her case study, had the opportunity to meet new colleagues (MDs, APPs, DPMs) from around the globe, interact with like-minded individuals, and learn even more about the wonderful world of wound care.

Her case study topic was Fish Skin Graft Application in combination with sNPWT and Lymphedema Management to heal a left hand wound with tendon exposure.

We can’t thank the amazing team at Kerecis enough for this opportunity!

Every year, we see families struggle with coverage decisions that impact wound care, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans can differ significantly in what services they cover — especially when it comes to advanced wound treatments, home health, and skilled nursing care.

As providers, we encourage patients and families to review their coverage carefully during open enrollment (starting October 15) to ensure they understand what’s included and what might require prior authorization.

We get to celebrate the birthdays of the best duo in the game- Kasey and Miranda! These two keep our office running smoothly, from helping our patients with whatever they need, to working with insurances and supporting our staff- we most certainly couldn’t do it without them.

This month, we honor the strength of those living with chronic wounds and highlight the critical role of specialized care in improving outcomes, preventing amputations, and saving lives.

Chronic nonhealing wounds affect up to 2% of the population in developed countries—similar to the prevalence of heart failure—yet they often lack the public awareness and policy support they deserve.
