Help us welcome our new interns! We are looking forward to a summer full of learning and growth with the future of healthcare!

RCH is one of nine facilities to be awarded an Iowa Summer Youth Internship Program grant! With this funding, RCH is able to provide hands-on learning experiences through paid healthcare internships.

Participants will have on-the-job training in various departments including Health IT, EMS, Nursing, and Radiology. Our interns will also receive training on employability skills, interviewing skills, resume writing, and financial literacy training.

Responding to over 450 calls in 2025, our EMS crew has shown dedication time and again. 🚨 The team is full of selfless and compassionate individuals, and we see their dedication daily. We are truly grateful for them and their commitment to ensuring safety and well-being for our community.

We had so much fun at our Family Safety Night at RCH yesterday! From firetrucks and a bike rodeo to education stations and a special helicopter appearance, it was a great opportunity to connect with and celebrate the emergency service teams our community relies on every day.

Special thank you to SRO Deputy Arends, SRO Kloster, Ringgold Co. Sheriff's Dept, Mt. Ayr Fire, Darla Dolecheck, and MercyOne’s air crew for spending the evening with us!

The RCH Foundation was able to offer THREE $1,000 scholarships to students whose plans include pursuing a career in a healthcare profession this year.

From food trucks and line dancing to dress-up days and yoga sessions, RCH celebrated Hospital Week ’26 accordingly. 🥳

It was a week packed with great food, lots of laughs, and well-deserved appreciation for the people who make RCH what it is. Every day, our team goes above and beyond to care for our community, and this week was all about celebrating that dedication.

Pedal Power!

RCH was recently awarded a Community Wish Grant from Ringgold County’s H.E.L.P. Youth Philanthropy Group to assist in funding a smoothie bike, an interactive tool that promotes physical activity and healthy eating in a fun, hands-on way! Participants are able to pedal the stationary bike to fully power the attached bleneder (leading to a really great fruit smoothie).

This equipment will be tagging along to community events and the schools, but staff took one for the team to be the first to try it out and make sure it worked efficiently. Safe to say, it passed the test. Join us at the RCH Family Safety Night on Wednesday, May 20, and give it a try yourself!

The ROSE Award is given to a healthcare professional (non-nursing staff) as a Recognition of Service Excellence. We are proud to recognize Shelly Shields as our 2026 ROSE honoree!

Shelly is a patient favorite for a reason. She’s known for being comforting, knowledgeable, and a true advocate while also bringing just the right amount of humor to put people at ease.

She has a way of meeting patients and families exactly where they are, making every experience feel more manageable and a lot less overwhelming. Her consistency, persistence, and genuine care don’t go unnoticed and we’re lucky to have her on our team!
