Today โ€“ Saturday, October 25th is Drug Take Back Day from 10 am โ€“ 2 pm!

The Macomb County Sheriffโ€™s Department and the Clinton Township Police Department are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a national effort to safely dispose of medications from homes and to protect our waterways. Cleaning out your medicine cabinet takes just a few minutes and there are plenty of convenient collection sites near you. For collection sites near you, go to Take Back Day collection locator.

Please note: The Macomb County Health Departmentโ€™s locations are not a collection site for this event. Needles or inhalers will NOT be accepted. If you have any questions regarding what is allowed or would like more information, please call 586-723-2360.

๐ŸŽ€ The Purpose

Red Ribbon Week promotes living a drug-free, healthy, and positive lifestyle.
It encourages young people โ€” and the adults who support them โ€” to make safe choices and to stand up against drug misuse, bullying, and violence.

๐Ÿงฉ How It Started

The campaign began in 1985 after the death of DEA agent Enrique โ€œKikiโ€ Camarena, who was killed in the line of duty while fighting against drug trafficking.

In his honor, communities started wearing red ribbons as a symbol of commitment to a drug-free life, which grew into a nationwide movement supported by schools, organizations, and families.
