A quote today from The Buddha's teachings... "Remember to take care of yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup."
We think of self-care as eating well, getting at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night, taking supplements, and getting our annual physicals to make sure our bodies are working properly but what about our souls and minds?
Have you considered angelic channeling, chakra realignment, reiki, a massage, a facial, visiting a stretch lab, pilates or yoga, meditating while relaxing in a float spa or deep breathing in a salt room, pottery or gardening. Maybe its going deep inside for healing through therapy. These are all amazing ways to nurture our souls and minds which in turn nurtures our hearts as well.
I'd like to share I spent an entire me day seeing myself through a stranger's lens by being photographed for the 40 over 40 Campaign - Photography for Women. As we age, we begin seeing someone in the mirror we don't recognize. Changes in our bodies as we age can create changes in our spirit.
Can we get Botox, lifts and tucks, injections and surgeries? Of course we can but not everyone can afford it initially and afford the maintenance once we get started. 40 over 40 is about accepting ourselves where we are today, celebrating the bumps and bruises from our journey along the way, and celebrating where we are going.
I have almost 63 years behind me and 30+ years ahead of me. I'm counting my blessings and I'm thankful for all the scars, blemishes, wrinkles and imperfections on the outside and the hurts, wounds and scars on the inside. I'm finding joy in living with where I've been and love with whom I'm yet to become.
If you'd like to do some soul work, angelic channeling, chakra realignment or veil travel through meditation, look for my website Mystic Whispers - Readings with Amy and look for a photographer in your area that is participating in 40 over 40. You are worth it!
