The Burlington County Women's Advisory Council is seeking nominations for Outstanding Women of the Year 2025. Please submit your nominations by June 9 here: https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/outstandingwomen2025.

Each year, the Women's Advisory Council and the Burlington County Commissioners honor women who have made significant contributions to the community and who have demonstrated their support of women. Nominees must have worked or lived in Burlington County for at least one year. Only individuals - not groups, clubs, or organizations - will be considered.

This year, nominations will be accepted in the following categories:

Business
Community Service
Diversity/Inclusion
Education
Healthcare
Leadership
Law
Public Safety/Military (First Responders/Federal Agencies/Dispatchers/EMS/Fire/Police)

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council continue to honor and support standout young women by awarding scholarships to those who are aspiring to lead and advocate for other women or pursue careers in STEM, health care, business, law, government and community service.

The Commissioners and Advisory Council announced that applications for Burlington County’s annual Student Scholarship Awards are now being accepted. A total of five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors.
Three of the scholarships are being sponsored by partners Re*****on & Vernick Engineers, Virtua Health, the Alice Paul Institute and the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Burlington County Library System will host a special screening of 'Why Women Need to Climb Mountains', a documentary about Dr. Gerda Lerner, a pioneering scholar of women's history. The film's creator, Renata Keller, will be in attendance for a special Q&A session.

The documentary explores stories of women activists, their creativity, spirit, and unwavering dedication to ensuring that the value of women's voices and contributions to history are never overlooked.

This special event will take place this coming Saturday, March 22nd, from 1PM-3:30PM at the Burlington County Library in Westampton. Auditorium seating will begin at 12:45PM. Tickets will be handed out at the auditorium door beginning at 12:15PM. There is no charge to attend. You can find more information here: https://www.bcls.lib.nj.us/events/15233

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council are hosting the Outstanding Women of Burington County Awards Reception next week, so let’s take a moment to congratulate this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to Lisa Fox-Pfeiffer, who is the recipient of a new award recognizing achievements in Humanities and History.

Fox- Pfeiffer is the executive director of the Burlington County Historical Society and has directed the organization since 2007. During her tenure, she has been deeply involved with the development of the organization’s Children’s History Center, a family-friendly and interactive space for children and adults to explore Burlington County’s past. She has advocated for the preservation of historical buildings, launched new and engaging programs and tours and served as a grant reviewer for the Burlington County Department of Resource Conservation.

Fox-Pfeiffer is also member of the Burlington City Tourism Council and the American Association for State and Local History.

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council are hosting the Outstanding Women of Burington County Awards Reception next week, so let’s take a moment to congratulate this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to Connie Garrano, who is the recipient of this year’s award for Health Care.

Garrano serves as the nurse for the Burlington County Special Services School District. She is a New Jersey-certified school nurse who has served students at the Special Services School District for 22 years. She specializes in treatment of students with autism spectrum disorder and others who are medically fragile or have special needs.

Garrano led the school district’s COVID-19 response and was integral to the guidance, support and care that was critical to protecting vulnerable students and their families throughout the pandemic. Garrano is also a key collaborator with the Special Olympics and helps ensure that participating BCSSSD athletes complete their required paperwork and physicals. She also makes sure athletes’ medical needs are met.

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council are hosting the Outstanding Women of Burington County Awards Reception next week, so let’s take a moment to congratulate this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to Dionne Bolden, who is the recipient of this year’s award for Government.

Bolden is the Director of Recreation and Parks for Willingboro Township. She has served in the recreation department since 2015 and has led the department since 2021. In her role as director, Bolden has overseen the recreation programs at the Kennedy Center and community parks, as well as special events like the annual Willingboro Jazz Festival.

A lifelong Willingboro resident, Bolden previously served as a crime prevention specialist with the Willingboro Police Department and as an elected member of the Willingboro Board of Education. She is also co-founder of Livin’ Proof, a grassroots group that organizes youth basketball clinics.

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council are hosting the Outstanding Women of Burington County Awards Reception next week, so let’s take a moment to congratulate this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to Officer Christina Bieri, who is the recipient of this year’s award for First Responders and Law Enforcement.

Officer Bieri is a School Resource Officer with the Burlington Township Police Department. She also serves as a member of the department’s field training unit, bicycle patrol unit and community resources bureau.

During her 8-years with the force, she is also credited with organizing a memorial 5K run to raise awareness about su***de and with other community policing programs and initiatives, including Burlington Township’s Youth Emergency Services Academy, National Night Out, Exercise and Eggs, and Shop with a Cop events.

Congratulations Officer Bieri! We appreciate your commitment to service and paving the way for the leaders of tomorrow!

The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Women's Advisory Council are hosting the Outstanding Women of Burington County Awards Reception next week, so let’s take a moment to congratulate this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to Dr. Carol Birnbohm, who is the recipient of this year’s award for Education.

Dr. Birnbohm serves as Superintendent of the Lenape Regional High School District. During her 12 years leading the district, the Lenape schools have remained among New Jersey’s highest academic achievers, and Birnbohm was recognized as New Jersey Region III Superintendent of the Year in 2018. She has also been a strong supporter and key contributor to Burlington County’s “Stigma-Free County” campaign to eliminate stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders.

Congratulations Dr. Birnbohm! We appreciate your commitment to service and paving the way for the leaders of tomorrow!
