I didn't just want a job. I wanted work that truly meant something.

So I became a caregiver, because in this field, and especially in this home, compassion isn't just a nice quality to have. It's the skill this job simply won't work without.

My favorite part is getting to know each resident. Finding out what they used to love, what made them laugh, what got them out of bed in the morning, what they were good at, and then helping them do those things again.

It never gets old watching someone light up doing something they forgot about.

I love these residents. And every single day I show up intending to make even a small difference for them. A little more comfort, a little more joy, a little more dignity.

I grew up in a nursing home. As a little kid going to work with my mom. I watched her love people the way most people love family.

I learned early that just showing up changes lives.

When my grandpa got older, my why got deeper. He never went to a home - my mom made sure of it. She said, "you can't trust everyone to care for your loved one like family."

That broke me. Because not everyone has family like that. And not every family can, even if they wanted to.

So I made a decision: I would be the voice for those who didn't have one. For residents. For caregivers. For the ones doing this job with their whole heart.

That's why I'm here. That's why I stay. At BeeHive Homes of Mt Horeb, my ideas aren't just heard, they're built on. My growth is invested in.

We aren't just bodies doing a job. We are the difference between someone feeling forgotten and feeling loved.
