Celebrating a Breakthrough in Patient Care at Charis Health Center

We are proud to share an inspiring success story from one of our long-term patients—a journey marked by perseverance, trust, and meaningful transformation.

This patient, who for years faced challenges including missed appointments, difficulty adhering to care plans, and chronic health issues, recently became the first patient to utilize our new Point-of-Care (POC) lab. This innovative technology allows us to obtain immediate lab results during visits, enabling personalized, timely care and real-time celebration of health milestones.

Since embracing this new approach, our patient has shown remarkable progress: a significant decrease in HA1C to a stable level, reduced symptoms related to chronic conditions, improved mood, and a renewed commitment to medication adherence. His overall physical health and mental wellbeing have improved dramatically.

This success exemplifies the power of combining compassionate, patient-centered care with cutting-edge technology. We’re honored to support our patients through every step of their health journey and to celebrate their victories—big and small—as they happen.

FINAL DAY = COMPLETE 🎉🧪

We did it! Our Point of Care Lab is officially certified and ready to serve our patients with on-the-spot testing and real-time results — right here at Charis Health Center!

Over the past 3 days, we’ve:
✔️ Learned a LOT
✔️ Stuck more fingers than we can count (we promise we’re still friends 🩸😂)
✔️ Ran enough pregnancy tests to make a reality show
✔️ Laughed, learned, and leveled up our care!

Huge thanks to .to.heart.international and everyone who helped make this dream a reality. To our incredible trainers — thank you for not only teaching us the ins and outs of lab testing but for doing it with so much heart, humor, and humility. You turned technical training into a meaningful experience and gave us the confidence to serve our patients better from day one.

This lab is more than machines and tests — it’s access, equity, and timely care for our community. 💙

Day 2 of CLIA Lab Training = Not for the Faint of Finger! 🩸😅

If you still have fingerprints left after today… you weren’t at Charis.
Let’s just say, our poor fingers have been pricked, poked, and possibly reconsidering their life choices. 😂

Pregnancy tests? Oh, we ran enough to start a daycare. 👶✨
(Just kidding… kind of.)

From blood glucose to rapid results, our team is leveling up to bring faster, better care straight to our patients. 💪🧬

Today marked the first full day of installation and training for our new Point-of-Care Lab in partnership with .to.heart.international — and we’re already feeling the impact. This on-site lab will allow us to provide faster, more accurate testing right here at Charis Health Center, eliminating long wait times and breaking down barriers for our patients.

We’re thrilled to partner with ❤️ Heart to Heart International to bring a Point-of-Care Lab to Charis Health Center in Mt. Juliet! 🧪

This new on-site lab means faster test results, quicker diagnoses, and better care—especially for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. No more long waits or costly off-site lab visits!

Our Story

Over a decade ago, a bold vision of providing compassionate quality healthcare to our uninsured neighbors was realized. The vision was instilled with God’s kingdom of love, hope, mercy, and power. “He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” Luke 9:2. That same bold vision that started Charis Health Center in 2007 continues today.

Charis Health Center is located in Mount Juliet, Tennessee and provides affordable healthcare to the uninsured in Middle Tennessee. Charis operates with a small staff and cadre of dedicated volunteers out of two clinic locations and a mobile health clinic. Since 2007, Charis has delivered quality, compassionate, healthcare and health education to those without insurance or the ability to pay for services they need to ensure our community’s physical and spiritual wellbeing.

When you visit Charis Health Center today you will see more than a new logo on the door. You will see new leadership that is dedicated to patient growth and clinic sustainability. You will see new partnerships that have made new services possible for patients. And most importantly, you will see a clinic dedicated to improving the health of not just our uninsured neighbors, but also the health equity of the whole community.

For the second year in a row, Charis Health Center has seen record breaking new patient growth. 42% of the patients seen in 2019 were new patients. Charis is also blessed to be able to offer new exciting services to patients through new partnerships. It is because of new partnerships Charis is able to now offer free medications to patients on cite and free women’s health services to those that qualify.
