🌟 Therapist Spotlight – Kenya Kilpatrick 🌟

Kenya Kilpatrick earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tennessee State University and a master’s in Counseling with a specialization in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling.

Her career began with Youth Villages, where she worked with youth facing emotional, mental, and behavioral challenges, as well as families in foster care. She also serves with the Youth Advocate Program, providing evidence-based services in homes and communities as alternatives to youth incarceration, child welfare placements, and neighborhood violence.

Outside of work, Kenya enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and relaxing with a good movie. She also hosts yearly marriage retreats, supporting couples of all ages and stages in building stronger relationships. 💚

🌟 Board Member Spotlight - Gary Maggart 🌟

Gary is a lifelong resident of Wilson County, with the exception of his college years. His parents instilled in him the importance of hard work, respecting the dignity of all people, and serving others. These values guided him to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from East Tennessee State University in 1973, followed by a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Tennessee in 1976.

Gary began his career as a mental health therapist, serving eight years at the Wilson County Mental Health Center (now Cumberland Mental Health). He then transitioned into human resources, spending 15 years in leadership roles with Cracker Barrel Restaurants and 19 years with LifeWay Christian Resources. After retiring from LifeWay in 2017, Gary served part-time as a church administrator for Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon, where he and his wife are longtime members. He fully retired in 2020 but continues to give back, serving on multiple church and community committees in a volunteer capacity.

Gary is blessed with his wonderful wife, Denise, two adult children, and five grandchildren. He cherishes time with family, especially watching his grandchildren play sports. In his free time, Gary enjoys hiking, biking, pickleball, kayaking, fishing, traveling, and continuing his lifelong commitment to serving others.

We are grateful to have Gary’s wisdom and experience on our Board of Directors. His commitment to serving others and his community is an incredible asset to our mission. 💚

Sometimes, it’s easier to talk with people who’ve been there. The purpose of group therapy is to connect with others who know what it’s like and help each other work through life’s ups and downs. You’re not just talking to a therapist; you’re surrounded by people who are facing their own struggles too. It’s a chance to share experiences, give support, and find new ways to handle life together. 💚

🌅 This morning at Breakfast Rotary, we were honored to welcome Melanie Browning of Lantern Lane as our guest speaker. Karen shared her inspiring journey and the heart behind Lantern Lane, reminding us of the power of connection, service, and making a difference in the lives of others.

A big thank you to Karen for starting our day with encouragement and purpose — and to our Rotary family for another great morning of fellowship. 💙
