✨ Volunteer of the Month - Caroline Black ✨ We are thrilled to recognize Caroline Black, a founding member of Endeavor, as our October Volunteer of the Month!

With her adult son back riding at the farm, Caroline immediately asked how she could lend a hand — and hasn’t stopped since. From exercising horses and supporting staff, to helping with the intake process for our correctional facility volunteer program, Caroline’s contributions are felt across the farm.

It’s always a joy to see familiar faces return, and we’re so grateful for Caroline’s dedication, energy, and heart.

✨ Our Equine-Assisted Learning program is off to a wonderful start for the 2025–26 school year! ✨

Today’s lesson was all about noticing—from the tiniest details to the big, bold ones. Students searched for baby watermelons and pumpkins alongside the full-grown giants, then shared their discoveries with our horses. Cookie and Cody are on the “little” side, while Rupert definitely fits the “big” category! 🐴🎃🍉

Each session is customized to match what students are exploring in the classroom, all within the sensory-rich setting of the farm. 💛

Congratulations to Isa - our September Volunteer of the Month! 🤎🐴🙂

A consistent volunteer, she works in many of our lessons and has been spending extra time supporting the Veteran Program. Barbara shared that “Isa is wonderful with the veterans. Thank you so much to for the generous donation to our Veteran program. We are so grateful to the Westchester Country Board of Legislators for their on-going support.

Legislator Erika Pierce said, “Our veterans give their all for our country and far too many struggle in the years following their service. Endeavor provides equine therapy, at no charge, to hundreds of our veterans annually, making real differences in their lives. I have been lucky enough to witness some of those interactions, and the impacts on program participants are nothing short of magical. Our female veterans are a particularly underserved group, and so I am thrilled to be able to help with funding for programs specific to their needs. We are so very lucky to have Endeavor in our community.”

After four amazing years as one of our superstar equine partners, our sweet Chili is off to a well-deserved retirement! 🐴✨ A beloved Gypsy Vanner, Friesian cross family horse, joined Endeavor in 2021 and has been a dependable, caring, and invaluable member of our Herd.

Chilli gave his all to countless participants, volunteers, and staff over the years. A special thank you to Christy Counts for sharing her special Chili with us these past years.

We wish him all the comfort, treats, and relaxation he deserves! 🤎🥕

Our Story

Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc.’s mission is to empower individuals with a broad range of special needs by providing the highest quality equine assisted activities and therapies in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Endeavor was founded in 2014 by a group of dedicated, highly trained therapeutic riding professionals to provide high quality, innovative, equine-assisted activities for children and adults with special needs and their families from throughout the New York metro area. Sited on an expansive, 50-acre farm in equine-oriented Bedford, New York, the organization provides a breadth of highly customized direct service programs that support the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills of participants with a wide range of diagnoses, disabilities and challenging histories including: trauma, addiction, autism spectrum disorders, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cancer, stroke, cerebral palsy, global development delay, down syndrome, epilepsy, abuse, sexual trafficking, sexual exploitation, Lyme disease, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and PTSD, among others.

The organization is guided by a philosophy of inclusion that is reflected in the way in which horses are incorporated into treatment interventions as valuable partners, and able-bodied siblings are encouraged to participate in all activities side-by-side with their participating brothers and sisters. Participants at Endeavor are not limited by perceptions or boundaries and are encouraged and supported to set and meet stretch goals that are often far beyond even their own expectations.
