Products we make are Stokes' customized formulations based on your physician's specifications. Our hearts were truly touched by Smokey’s incredible recovery journey💙🐾

"Several folks have reached out asking for an update on Smokey since my post two weeks ago. Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. Cat owners, please read this, it’s important.
Smokey’s non-regenerative IMHA anemia worsened after my last post, and he required a transfusion. His ataxia (Google it) became more pronounced. An internist at CARE recognized the symptoms as Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and began treatment before the test results came back.
FIP is a deadly disease caused by a mutated coronavirus. Until June 2024, all cases of FIP ended in death within days to weeks of symptom onset. Last year, Stokes developed Bova GS-441524 to treat FIP. It is a powerful drug with few known side effects.
Within two days of starting treatment, Smokey’s red blood cell count began to rise. Within seven days, he was no longer anemic. His ataxia has improved each day. The medication must be administered for 84 days.
I share this because some veterinarians may not yet be aware that FIP is now treatable. If you ever face this diagnosis, ask about Bova GS-441524, compounded by Stokes Pharmacy.
Smokey is home and feeling much better. His ataxia continues to improve, and while full mobility may take another month, he climbed to the top of his cat tree this morning. I’d estimate he has regained about 90 percent of his mobility.

Happy Thanksgiving, from Stokes Pharmacy! 🦃🍂

While you’re enjoying your holiday feast, your furry friend can join in too safely! 🐾 Here are some Thanksgiving foods dogs can enjoy in moderation:

🍠 Sweet Potatoes: Steamed, baked, or boiled. Just skip the butter and spices!
🍎 Apples: A crunchy treat without the core, sliced thin or cut into small cubes.
🥔 Potatoes: Plain, cooked, and mashed or cubed—just make sure they’re free of butter, salt, garlic, or seasonings.
🥩 Turkey Meat: Plain, boiled, and unseasoned with fat and skin removed.
🥗 Green Beans: Serve fresh, frozen, or canned, but unseasoned.
🫛 Peas: Plain, steamed, or thawed if frozen—skip the creamed or seasoned versions. Great source of vitamins and fiber!
🎃 Pumpkin: Cooked or canned (not pie filling!)—great for your pup’s digestion.

Stokes Healthcare’s division, Stokes Pharmacy has been formulating custom prescription medications for both humans and animals since 1975. It has grown from a small hometown operation to a nationally respected pharmacy.

For individual patient prescriptions, Stokes Pharmacy is proud to offer manufactured items through Epicur Pharma, a sister division of Stokes Healthcare. Epicur Pharma is a mini-manufacturer, producing drugs such as Tacrolimus Eyedrops, Buprenorphine Injection and Gabapentin tablets. Epicur is overseen by the FDA and is considered a 503B Registered Outsourcing Facility. Epicur follows Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) which are the same rules and regulations as the pharmaceutical companies. Epicur Pharma is proud to be a pioneer in animal drug standards, offering the largest selection of manufactured drugs that are traditionally compounded.
