✨Cozy Season✨
Many of us see winter as a dreaded time of year in which we have no motivation or energy and feel guilty for not wanting to go anywhere or do anything.
What would happen if we shifted the way we view the colder, darker months? What if we saw them as a time to slow down, stay home, get extra rest, read a good book, bundle up in soft cozy clothes, get nourishment from warm, hearty meals and to spend extra time visiting and relaxing with loved ones? What if we saw this time of year as a sacred retreat for our bodies and minds, in preparation for the busy days and late nights ahead in the summer?
There are many cultures around the world that embrace the concept of Hygge: “A cozy quality that makes a person feel content and comfortable. During the long, dark winters when Danes retreat inside their homes, Hygge is what brings them a great sense of comfort and joy.” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
These places, coincidentally, are rated as some of the happiest places in the world.
I encourage you to notice, then challenge, your judgmental guilt ridden thoughts about following your natural instincts to retreat inward, be cozy and get extra rest this winter; what if retreating inward was actually what we were meant to do?
