April is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month! 🎗️💙
Did you know that up to 75% of head and neck cancer survivors will develop lymphedema?
While we focus on early detection and a cure this month, we also want to shine a light on one of the most common—yet often "invisible"—side effects of treatment.
What is Head & Neck Lymphedema?
It’s chronic swelling that happens when the lymphatic system is damaged by surgery or radiation. In the head and neck, this can cause:
🔹 Tightness or "heaviness" in the neck or face.
🔹 Difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing.
🔹 Reduced range of motion in the jaw or neck.
The Good News:
It is manageable! With the help of Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLTs), specialized compression garments, and manual lymphatic drainage, survivors can reduce swelling and improve their quality of life.
How you can help:
1️⃣ Check Your Neck: If you have a lump or sore that lasts more than 2 weeks, [contact your doctor].
2️⃣ Share this Post: Help a survivor recognize the signs of lymphedema so they can get the care they deserve.

As of January 15th, 2024, at 4:45 pm, these are the current updates:

• Family Care Center Mount Pleasant (located next to Herschels) will be open on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 8 AM. Please call 903-577-CARE for same-day appointments.
• All of The Clinics of Titus locations will open at 10am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. To see a complete listing of these locations, visit the link above.
• All Outpatient Departments at Titus Regional Medical Center, including Imaging Plus, TitusFit Wellness Center, Outpatient Rehab, Center for Women’s Health, and Cardiac Rehab will open at 10am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
• Scheduled surgeries, GI Lab Procedures, and Cath Lab Procedures will be back to regular schedule starting at 7:30 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
