A doula is a non-medical support person who offers physical, emotional, mental and educational support. A doula does not replace the spouse/partner. We bring positivity to the birth team and advocate for the birthing person's birth plan. As a holistic leaning doula, I focus on informed consent (and denial), autonomy, natural options, emotional and mental strength, confidence, and education. Personally, I will support and affirm all walks of life and all variations of birth.
So, what is a Postpartum Doula? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like. A support person for after baby has been born. A postpartum doula is there to support the family. The new parent's needs are so often are over-looked by friends and family because let's face it, who doesn't want to come over and hold a newborn baby?! BUT caring for and supporting the parents is crucial, and that is where a postpartum doula comes into play. They can offer light housework, grocery shopping, meal prep, helping with older siblings, caring for baby while parents sleep or shower, education/support during the fourth trimester, and information and support on baby blues, PPD/PPA. Pretty much any and everything needed to help everyone settle into their new roles.
I also hold certification as a Peer Lactation Counselor. I am passionate about breast/chestfeeding. With 11 years of personal experience, nursing my own little ones, sharing my (hard earned) knowledge and expertise is something I absolutely love. My lactation services include latch support, supply education, and any sort of troubleshooting to keep you and Baby on the right path. I am always in your corner, cheering you on! With proper support and education reaching your goals is much more attainable. Let me help!
