Holy Shred!

Today we took the shred that Shredder Bees shreds to the processor in North Charleston. The processor recycles the shredding for other purposes- full circle.

The money we get from this gets put back in the company for employee training, equipment & job skills 😊

You are looking at 1,620 lbs of shredded paper, people!!! 👀👀👀

And when we recycle with Sonoco, they buy the shred from us. 💰💰💰

We expect a check for this pile to be about $170.00, which we promptly turn over to Five Fish Foundation to be used for scholarships to local special needs families to pay for therapies that insurance does not cover.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who transported the shred today!

Shredder Bees is a corporate and residential document destruction employment initiative for young adults with disabilities developed by local non-profit, Five Fish Foundation. Our interns learn basic job skills (like being to work on time, keeping track of hours worked, how to interact with co-workers, etc) that will transfer to most any job they will apply for in the future.

The shredding service is free! But…if you like our mission of teaching job skills to young adults with disabilities and would like to further support the local disability community, please consider making a donation to Five Fish Foundation. Any donation you make to Five Fish is not only tax-deductible, but 100% of the donation goes back out to the intellectual disability community in the form of scholarships.

House of Artists Foundation's Camp Artism is expanding to (8) markets and Charleston, SC is one of them, April 11-16, 2022! We have a partnership with Charleston Southern University, North Charleston Fire and Police Department.

Camp Artism by House of Artists Foundation is a unique specialty vocational training program for artists with autism, centered around creative arts and independent living skills. Here is a video recap from Camp Artism: Atlanta, GA: https://youtu.be/ZKofHPXmn-0

Camp Artism is from 8am-4p and for artists with autism ages 12+ adults- yes, even adults over age 25. This is year 5 of Camp Artism!

Hot Lunch and daily t-shirts are included with the registration fee!

Driver Training w/ police interactions

Snacks are provided at Camp Artism throughout the day and they are free to walk over to the craft services table at any time or ask a team member for a snack, however an "official" snack break is around 2pm.
