Long post, but you may have noticed we have been a bit quieter on social media this week. Just kind of taking it all in and observing and processing. I think I’ve finally found words for what I’ve been observing. Despite the ongoing events, our little Sangha came together and embodied our mission. And it did something to me, it brought love and calm into my heart and I hope it does to you too.
Here’s what we saw:
- The community coming together to provide our community members with warm clothes. When things didn’t go to plan, they just pivoted and made it happen.
- The highest number of students in classes.
- the most new students we’ve seen in a week.
- extra time in the studio for students and teachers
- workshop providers volunteering to run groups to help the community process and reconnect.
- a bunch of people in the helping profession, therapists and nurses and social workers all coming together for a collective breath, so they can go forth and spread it.
Because here’s the thing that we hope to remember: yoga is more than the weekly class you attend, the fancy mat, the four walls of the studio we are so blessed to have access to.
Yoga is ahimsa- non violence to self or others. It’s learning how to regulate and take care of yourself and those around you.
Yoga is about sangha- the connections you make and the love we share.
Yoga is about Satya- truth. Truth in finding what works for you, truth in that guttural sense. That whisper that keeps tapping to get your attention.
It’s that call back to you and your center.
This week showed me that our community was looking to survive and thrive through uncertainty. Our community chose to lean in and chose love this week. I’m grateful to be in this Sangha, to be in this community, to the teachers and providers, to the community partners, to the friends and family ❤️
Much love 🙏 thank you for letting us be in the journey ❤️
