Center of Hope Counseling

Center of Hope Counseling Center of Hope offers individual outpatient counseling services both in person and virtually. Pleasant. Classes to be announced .

Using evidenced based therapies, we specialize in eating disorders, anxiety, depression, body image issues, and adjustment issues. Individual Counseling: Individual therapy is provided by therapists whom specialize in anxiety, depression and the psychological spectrum of eating disorders. Goals of treatment include building skills to regulate emotions, understanding and resolving underlying issues that contributed to the development of eating disorders, building healthier relationships, improving self worth, gaining ability to utilize effective coping strategies and reducing fear. Clients will then be equipped to deal with emotions and if applicable, work on returning to normal eating patterns. During the assessment process the therapist and the client will discuss additional services as listed below that may be an important part of the treatment plan. Group Counseling: Group experience is a beneficial addition to treatment. It offers individuals the opportunity to discuss their struggles with others who are experiencing similar issues. Below are the group experiences we offer at Center of Hope:

-Encountering Life Competently - an educationally based group that helps develop life skills. Through this 4- week group, individuals will learn mindfulness, stress management, identifying and regulating emotions, and more. This group is ideal for those who experience depression, anxiety or are in the beginning stages of Eating Disorder recovery.

-Breakaway - Utilizing a structured format, the focus of this group will be on helping individuals build awareness, understanding, and the skills necessary for recovery. This group meets every week for 10 weeks.

-Feelings not Food Group- a group for individuals that are stuck in a love hate relationship with food. This group is intended to free people from obsessive and disordered patterns of avoiding and coping with emotions by stuffing, numbing and distracting themselves with overeating. By learning skills that modify the relationship with food to become one of nourishment and pleasure we restore food to it's intended role. The participants also gain tools to skillfully navigate and manage their emotions, thus decreasing their reliance on overeating, while building internal strength and confidence.

-Mirror Mirror - a group that empowers individuals to cultivate acceptance and gratitude for themselves and their bodies, peace and compassion in their minds, and teaches them to be thoughtful consumers who do not accept marketing attempts aimed at promoting self-loathing. Through education, skills attainment and shared experience clients are taught to practice self-love, challenge toxic societal messages, and begin to develop a nurturing relationship with their bodies.

Dietetic Services: Although many eating disorder clients are their own "experts" when it comes to calories and food information, dietetic services are an important addition to treatment as a whole. Our program refers to Registered Dietician Kati Mora, to provide dietetic services for our clients whom provides services out of her office located at 113 W Broadway, Suite 200, Mt. For more information please contact Kati Mora at (989) 400-1478 or visit her website at: katimora.com

Yoga: Center of Hope will soon be offering yoga classes provided by a certified mindfully based yoga instructor. This practice will give individuals the opportunity to exercise mindfulness and body acceptance. Medical Professionals: To ensure holistic treatment, clients may be referred to a medical professional to address needs in the areas of: physical health, medication, biological history, etc. Although this area does not have a medical facility that specializes in eating disorders, referrals will be made as appropriate to trusted and reputable professionals in the area that have experience in working with anxiety, depression, mood disorders and/or eating disorders. Case Consultation: To ensure effective treatment, the treatment team as mentioned above will hold regular consultation meetings. A comprehensive approach is necessary to foster recovery

🍂 Navigating Mental Health Through Changing Seasons 🍂

As the seasons shift, so can our moods, energy levels, and emotional well-being. Whether it's the transition from summer's warmth to fall's crisp air, or winter's approach, these changes can significantly impact mental health.

Common seasonal challenges:
• Lower energy and motivation
• Changes in sleep patterns
• Increased anxiety or sadness
• Difficulty with transitions
• Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Seasonal Affirmations to Support You:
✨ "I embrace change and trust in my ability to adapt"
✨ "My worth isn't measured by my productivity"
✨ "It's okay to slow down when my body needs rest"
✨ "I honor my feelings without judgment"
✨ "I am resilient through every season of life"

Tips for seasonal transitions:
• Maintain consistent sleep and meal routines
• Get natural light exposure, especially in morning
• Stay connected with supportive people
• Practice daily affirmations
• Be gentle with yourself during adjustment periods

Remember: Just like the seasons change, so do our struggles. What feels heavy now won't last forever.

Need support navigating seasonal mental health challenges? We're here to help.

What we love about it: This book offers a gentle path toward healing the relationship with your body through self-compassion rather than self-criticism. Instead of focusing on restriction or control, it guides readers toward understanding their body's needs with kindness and developing a peaceful, trusting connection with food and physical sensations. The self-compassionate approach helps break the cycle of shame and judgment that often fuels disordered eating patterns, replacing harsh inner dialogue with supportive, nurturing self-talk that promotes lasting recovery and body acceptance.

Sometimes we need this gentle reminder: You are stronger and more resilient than you realize.

Mental Health Tip: When facing a challenging situation, try breaking it down using the "Next Right Step" approach:

1️⃣ Acknowledge what you're feeling without judgment
2️⃣ Identify just the very next small action you can take
3️⃣ Take that one step, then pause and reassess
4️⃣ Repeat this process one step at a time

You don't have to see the whole staircase to take the first step. Hard things become manageable when we approach them with self-compassion and break them into smaller pieces.

Remember: Asking for support isn't giving up—it's another way of doing hard things. Our team is here to walk alongside you on your journey.

What hard thing are you working through today? You've got this.

Feeling overwhelmed? You're not alone. Here are some gentle, practical strategies that can help calm your mind and body:

🛌 Get enough sleep - Your brain needs rest to process emotions effectively
🫁 Focus on your breathing - Try the 4-7-8 technique: inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8
💬 Talk to your loved ones - Connection is medicine for the anxious mind
🥑 Eat nourishing food - What you fuel your body with affects how you feel
🎨 Relax with hobbies - Engage in activities that bring you joy and peace
🚶‍♀️ Joyful movement - Even a 10-minute walk can shift your energy
⏰ Time management - Break big tasks into smaller, manageable steps
📝 Create to-do lists - Getting thoughts out of your head and onto paper reduces mental clutter

Remember: Managing anxiety is a practice, not perfection.

Start with one tip that feels manageable today. Small steps lead to big changes. 💚

If anxiety is significantly impacting your daily life, consider reaching out to a mental health professional for additional support. We're here to help!

Ever wonder why two people can experience the same situation but react completely differently? It all comes down to how our thoughts shape our reality!

Here's how it works:
✨ Situation → Thoughts → Feelings → Behavior✨

The key insight? It's not the situation itself that determines how we feel and act—it's how we interpret that situation. Our thoughts are the lens through which we view the world, and they directly influence our emotions and behaviors.

This framework is powerful because it shows us where we have control. While we can't always change what happens to us, we can learn to recognize and reframe our thoughts, which can transform our entire experience.

Next time you're feeling stuck in a negative cycle, pause and ask: "What thoughts am I having about this situation? Are there other ways to look at it?"

College life reminder: It's okay to be human

The pressure to have it all figured out in college can be overwhelming. Between classes, social expectations, career planning, and newfound independence, it's easy to forget that struggling is normal.

For college students, remember:
🌼 It's okay to not be okay - Homesickness, academic stress, and social anxiety are common experiences
🌈 Ask for help - Campus counseling centers, professors, friends, and family are there for you
🌿 Take a break - Your mental health is more important than that assignment or social event
🍉 Not know what's next - Career uncertainty is normal, and your path doesn't have to be linear
☀️ Say "no" - To parties, extra commitments, or anything that compromises your wellbeing

College is a time of growth, change, and yes—sometimes struggle. You're not failing if you're finding it hard. You're just being human.

At Center of Hope Counseling, we provide support for college students navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and life transitions.

Drop your favorite self-care idea in the comments! ✨

This self-care jar is a gentle reminder that taking care of yourself doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming. Sometimes it's as simple as pulling out a pre-written note that says 'take three deep breaths' or 'text a friend.'
