Boyd "Shot" Eugene Blackwelder

Boyd Eugene “Gene” Blackwelder Sr., lovingly known as “Shot,” passed away at the age of 88 on March 2, 2026. Gene was a devoted family man, a hardworking construction operator, and a lifelong lover of the outdoors. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, strength, and kindness—one that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.

Gene spent his life working with his hands and his heart. He proudly contributed his skills to Rand Construction, Concord Builders, and Porter Farms, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and willingness to lend a hand wherever one was needed. His work touched countless lives and communities, and his craftsmanship stands as a lasting testament to the pride he took in every task.

Outside of work, Gene found joy in the simple pleasures that brought him peace. He was an enthusiastic golfer, always ready for a round with friends or family. He was also an avid hunter, happiest when surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature. Gene loved sharing that passion—often taking kids and families into the outdoors and introducing them to the experience of hunting. These pursuits reflected his deep love for the outdoors and his appreciation for moments of calm, connection, and adventure.

Above all, Gene’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Jessie; his son, Boyd; and his daughter, Kim, and her husband Brad. He was the proud grandfather of Brittany and Jenna, both of whom he adored. Gene also shared a special bond with his two beloved dogs, Kam and Biff, who faithfully remained by his side and brought him daily joy.

Gene’s presence will be deeply missed—his steady guidance, his humor, his quiet strength, and the love he poured into the people and animals he cherished. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

May he rest in peace.
