After living with a leg-length imbalance since she was a teenager, 55-year-old Kim Kaslick became the first patient of Dr. Dustin Hambright to receive a hip replacement using the Lantern Hip surgical navigation system — a phone-sized device that optimizes alignment and precisely corrects leg length in real time.

Hip replacements are becoming more common and increasingly are done in surgery centers. A new device allows for quicker setup without expensive equipment.
