Big news! ✨ We’re revamping our MAD for Keto Kits—the starter packs we provide free of charge to families beginning the ketogenic diet for epilepsy. 💙

Our goal? To make them more practical, more helpful, and more filled with the things YOU actually use and love. But we need your help!

📝 Tell us:

⭐ What keto essentials should every new family have in their kit?

⭐ Which specific brands do you swear by?

⭐ And most importantly… what’s your favorite lunch box or food container for packing on-the-go keto meals?

Your feedback will directly shape what future families receive—so please be as specific as possible. Let’s make these kits even better, together.

💬 Drop your suggestions in the comments or DM us if you’d rather share privately.

Summer and water go hand in hand. Swimming is something that people with epilepsy can enjoy if they take some precautions. The has a great article with practical tips for those who choose to swim with epilepsy.⁣

A few tips to consider…⁣
-Make sure that lifeguards know about your child’s seizures and any other health concerns.⁣
-Make sure all children with a history of seizures swim with supervision by someone who knows how to swim and provide emergency help.⁣
-Children with frequent seizures or seizures that impair consciousness may need 1-to-1 supervision and may not be allowed to swim in water that is over their head.⁣
-Some people recommend ‘reach supervision’ or having an adult within arm’s reach of the child at all times. This may not be needed for children with well-controlled seizures. Parents should ask the child’s neurologist for advice first.⁣
-Check all lifejackets and personal flotation devices – make sure they are intact and work properly.⁣
-Use of a lifejacket or personal flotation device is recommended for children in or near open bodies of water or during water activities. Remember that inflatable toys or ‘water wings’ are not flotation safety devices.⁣
-Children with seizures should always swim with a buddy.⁣
-Encourage your child to take swimming lessons.⁣
-Discourage diving into a river, lake or ocean.⁣

Our Story

Our story began in 2014 when our daughter Rosemary was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy at four months old and we watched as medications failed to control her seizures. Working with our doctors we soon met Laura Dority, a registered dietitian, who introduced us to the the ketogenic diet as a treatment option. We started Rosemary on the diet and were amazed when her seizures were completely controlled within weeks. She has remained seizure free ever since! The success we experienced on the ketogenic diet inspired us to team up with Laura and form the Keto Hope Foundation. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to families with children on the ketogenic diet as a treatment option for pediatric epilepsy. We are committed to advancing the success of the ketogenic diet by supporting families, expanding nutritional options, and providing educational opportunities to healthcare professionals and families alike. Let us know if we can help you!
