☀️👁️ Summer + Contacts = Healthy Vision Tips! 👁️☀️

Whether you're hitting the beach, lounging by the pool, or enjoying outdoor activities, taking care of your contacts is essential to protect your eyes. Here’s how you can keep your eyes healthy for the rest of summer:

1️⃣ Keep It Clean

Always wash your hands before handling your contacts! Dirty hands can introduce bacteria, leading to infections or irritation.

2️⃣ Never Swim with Contacts

Avoid wearing your contacts in pools, lakes, or oceans. Water can introduce harmful bacteria, leading to eye infections like Acanthamoeba keratitis. Use glasses if you plan to swim!

3️⃣ Stay Hydrated

Hot weather can dry out your eyes, making contacts uncomfortable. Keep your eyes hydrated with lubricating rewetting eye drops (make sure they’re safe to use with contact lenses).

4️⃣ Follow Your Replacement Schedule

Stick to your contact lens replacement schedule! Whether you wear daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly lenses, timely replacements reduce the risk of eye infections and ensure clear vision.

5️⃣ Protect from the Sun

Wear sunglasses over your contacts to shield your eyes from UV rays. The sun can dry out your lenses and strain your eyes. Make sure the sunglasses are labeled as UV 400 or that they block UVA and UVB. 😎

6️⃣ Keep a Spare Pair

If you’re traveling or spending time outdoors, always bring an extra pair of contacts and a backup case. Better safe than sorry!

As the school year kicks off, don’t forget to schedule your child’s annual eye exam! According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), regular eye exams are essential for academic success and overall eye health. Here's why:

Many vision problems can go unnoticed by children, especially if they affect only one eye. Regular eye exams help catch issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and even eye coordination problems.

📝 Boost Academic Performance

Did you know that poor vision can affect reading, writing, and attention in class? An eye exam ensures your child isn’t missing out on their full potential!

💡 Avoid Straining

If your child is squinting, sitting too close to the TV, or complaining of headaches, it might be time for a check-up. These could be signs of a vision issue.

🎆 What an incredible 4th of July parade in Union Grove! 🎉

It was such a joy to be part of this year’s celebration — from the festive floats to the smiling faces lining the streets, waving to friendly faces to seeing all the red, white, and blue spirit, it was a celebration to remember. ❤️🤍💙

Thank you to our wonderful community for showing up with so much energy and support even in the rain! We’re proud to care for your eyes — and be part of such a supportive community.

A huge THANK YOU to Mount Pleasant Eye Care's optician Devin, his wife Katherine, and my family that participated in the parade by bringing and decorating the side-by-side, throwing candy, handing out koozies, and wearing stylish t-shirts! The parade would not have been possible without all of you participating!
