This is a nonpainful condition known as nodular granulomatous episcleral keratitis. This is an autoimmune condition that results in corneal edema, infiltrate, and vascularization. If left untreated, it can result in blindness. Treatment consists of steroids and immunomodulators.

It was an honor to be the first ophthalmologist (DVM or MD in the country to try out the Karl Storz VITOM 3D microscope. Akshay Shetty with Karl Storz has been so gracious to lend us the equipment and provide feedback on whether this technology can be used in the ophthalmology space. I can definitely see this being used heavily in teaching hospitals. First case has been completed on my own dog, Burrito the French Bulldog, with bilateral pr*****ed glands of the third eyelid! THANK YOU Akshay!
