Hello Families!
Many of you know our office has started the transition to a new Electronic Medical Record. Our new system communicates frequently via text messages. If you receive a message about a balance or have question about this system, please call to inquire or email your questions to us! Thanks, and we appreciate your patience as we make this transition to the digital age!

We are very excited to announce that we are launching our first ever electronic medical record software next week! What this means for YOU:
1. PLEASE be patient with us as we all learn a new system!
2. When you visit your child's physician, they will be documenting their visit on an iPad or laptop.
3. You will be receiving a text notification to check in for appointments where you will verify your demographic information, insurance and screenings.
4. We will still have you continue to call to schedule all sick and well visit appointments.
5. You can still call your nurse with questions, concerns or refill requests.
6. Don't worry there will be NO AI Doctors or Nurses at MPP!!

The SC Law Enforcement Division assisted 416 human trafficking survivors from 440 cases throughout South Carolina in 2022. Of the total number of victims, 399 were minors, while 17 were adults. This likely is only a small fraction of the actual problem. The South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force Blue Campaign and the SCMA Bioethics Committee invites you to wear blue on January 11 to raise awareness for human trafficking. Between 50-88% of the people trafficked have accessed health care services during their trafficking situations. Be aware of red flags and report any suspicious behavior to the number below:

For adult patients:

-Patient is reluctant to explain or has inconsistencies when asked about injuries
-Patient is not aware of his/her location (city, state)
-Patient does not have a cell phone or has multiple cell phones
-Patient does not have identification or the ID presented does not appear to the be the patient
-Patient is continually receiving calls and/or refuses to be separated from phone when asked
-Someone is speaking for the patient
-Patient offers to pay cash for medical services

For pediatric patients:

-History of running away
-History of illicit drug use
-Patient has tattoos
-DJJ and/or DSS involvement
-Sexually active (particularly at a young age and/or with multiple partners)
