Dr Matt’s hamstring injury.

“On August 30, I was on vacation with my two sons, Blake (21) and Lane (18). We had been having lots of fun, joking, bantering, and mild horseplay. Somehow, I decided to have a running race with Lane without stretching or warming up. Sprinting with him was a blast until I heard a pop and felt terrible pain in my hamstring. As I was trying to slow down, I was immediately reminded that it wasn’t so wise for me to do that at 54 years old (lol). I ended up with a grade 2 hamstring tear and could barely walk the next day. I had to be taken to the car in a wheelchair—a bit embarrassing. This is typically a 6- to 8-week recovery injury. However, I immediately thought about the new shockwave therapy we are doing at the office and how it accelerates healing time. Two years ago, I tore a labrum in my right shoulder, which was not getting better with rehab after two months. Somebody told me about SoftWave therapy, and I gave it a shot. I was amazed that my shoulder healed.

The week following my hamstring tear, I had to take a couple of days out of the office and began doing shockwave therapy. After two treatments, I woke up on day eight feeling amazingly 70% better. Now, on day 13, I am 90% better. I am grateful and astonished at how quickly it is healing.
