👉The Newest US Food Pyramid was just released!

This shifts the focus to “real food” and emphasizes protein, healthy fats and colorful fruits and vegetables and strongly cautions against consuming ultra processed foods such as chips, candy, white bread, cereals, donuts, snack bars, etc.

👉Key Changes & Focus Areas

🥩 Prioritizes Protein and Whole Foods: Great emphasis on animal based protein foods and eating real whole foods, rather than processed alternatives.

🥑Focuses on Healthy Fats: The recommendations include using animal fats like butter, beef tallow, etc. as well as fruit based fats such as olive oil, avocados and coconut oil.

🍭Targets Processed Foods: Explicitly calls out sugary, refined packaged foods (chips, crackers, snacks, candy, etc.) as detrimental.

👍Shifts Hierarchy: The old food pyramid emphasized whole grains, the new one prioritizes protein and healthy fats in the prominent, larger section and whole grains at the bottom - meaning eat those only in moderation.

🧁 Warns Against Sugar: Recommends delaying added sugar for children until age 10, this is A HUGE win for children’s health and a big difference from previous guidelines.

Drink more water
Eat less processed sugar
More fruits and veggies
Move your body
A mindset of thankfulness
Prioritize adequate sleep

A lifestyle of small, healthy choices, even with imperfections, are better than staying where you’re at.
