EWG released their new Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 lists for the year. Here are my “2 cents”:
▪️This should be used as a general guide. The idea is that if it’s on the Dirty Dozen list, either avoid it, or make sure you’re only eating it if it’s organic to avoid heavy pesticides.
▪️Eat organic as much as possible
▪️I’m always surprised to see corn on their “Clean 15” list, since it’s usually genetically modified (if I eat corn, it’s always organic)
▪️It’s a good idea to get to know local farmers and their practices
▪️The goal should be local (when available), organic, whole foods as much as possible 🍎🥒🫐🥗🧅🥬

To be clear, I never tell a client to stop taking medications. But we dealt with the root cause, and supported the body so it could heal. 💕👊🏻

🇮🇪☘️ A treat in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. My Irish husband makes this Irish Brown Bread recipe often (thank you Tim!) “Americanized” recipes add alcohol, but real Irish bread doesn’t contain any. I highly recommend Kerrygold Irish butter, jam or marmalade and a cup of Irish tea. Sláinte! 🇮🇪☘️

Ingredients

200 Grams Whole Wheat Flour (About 1 2/3 Cups)

10 Grams Wheat Bran (About 2 Tablespoons)

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

About 180–200 ml Buttermilk (3/4–7/8 Cup, Enough To Form A Soft Dough)

Extra Flour For Dusting

Instructions

Preheat The Oven
Preheat Oven To 390°F (200°C). Line A Baking Sheet With Parchment Paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In A Bowl, Combine:

Whole Wheat Flour

Wheat Bran

Baking Powder

Baking Soda

Salt

Add Buttermilk
Gradually Add Buttermilk, Mixing With A Spoon Or Your Hand Until A Soft, Slightly Sticky Dough Forms. Do Not Overmix.

Shape The Dough
Lightly Dust The Counter With Flour To Prevent Sticking.
Turn The Dough Out Onto The Counter And Gently Form It Into A Ball, Then Slightly Flatten Into A Ball.

Transfer To Baking Sheet
Place The Dough On The Prepared Parchment-Lined Baking Sheet.

Score The Top
Use A Knife To Cut A Shallow Cross On The Top Of The Dough. This Helps The Bread Bake Evenly.

Bake
Bake For 30 Minutes, Until The Crust Is Golden And The Bottom Sounds Hollow When Tapped.

Cool Slightly And Serve
Let The Bread Cool For 5-10 Minutes Before Slicing.
