Crews were busy over the night. At 8 pm Squad 37 and a crew of 6 responded to an unresponsive patient in B-Section of Norvelt.

A little before 2 am Engine-Rescue and Squad 37 were activated to a wreck in Trauger’s area of the Township with injuries and possible entrapment. A crew of 5 including 2 Vehicle Rescue Technician/EMTs, 2 Vehicle Rescue Technicians, and 1 EMT responded. Members assisted with scene stabilization, accessing the patient, and traffic control.

Shortly before 7 am, Squad 37 with a crew of 5 responded to a lift assist in A-Section of Norvelt.

Our brush truck assisted Mt. Pleasant VFD with fireworks standby for the Mt Pleasant Glass Festival tonight.

Yesterday, Rocco and his dad brought down a “Thank You” box to the members of the fire department. Every year we visit Rocco for his birthday as he is huge fan of our fire trucks. Tonight, we laid out the tool location for our new Genesis EForce battery operated extrication tools. We also laid out the location for our Paratech Hydrafusions and Struts. Members spent last evening preparing for the upcoming fall wildland season. Brush 37 is a Type 6 wildland engine with 250 gallons of water. Squad 37 is converted to a Type 7 wildland engine during the peak spring and fall seasons with a 100 gallon skid unit. UTV 37 has a 70 gallon skid unit capable of drafting, supplying 1” forestry hose and able to carry a stokes basket for patient extrication. All three of these apparatus recently had Philips AEDs added to their equipment. In addition to serving Norvelt and our surrounding communities our department is also a part of the Spooky Mountain Wildland Crew serving PA DCNR District 4 in Southwestern PA.

Our Department placed 18 new MSA G1 SCBAs into service tonight as well as 4 new Phillips AEDs. Every riding position on our Engine, Engine Rescue, soon to be in service Rescue, Squad, and Service now are equipped with SCBAs. Each of our apparatus including our UTV are also equipped with an AED now. This new equipment will help keep our members safe as well as better serve our community.
