Trey and Niki Latiolais acquired the longtime practice of Dr. John L. They moved to Mount Pleasant after spending 7 years practicing general dentistry in the Austin area. At Piney Woods Family Dentistry, we provide many different dental services to care for your entire family.

I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to thank you for choosing Piney Woods Family Dentistry for your dental care. It is our privilege to support your oral health, and we are committed to providing you with the highest quality care in a welcoming and respectful environment.

We are writing to inform you of an important and growing concern affecting many of our patients: an increasing number of dental claims are being denied by insurance companies—even for services that were previously covered or deemed dentally necessary.

These denials are often based on shifting coverage policies, increasingly restrictive criteria, or technicalities unrelated to the quality or necessity of care. Unfortunately, this trend can result in unexpected out-of-pocket expenses for our patients and added delays in treatment.

Please know that we are doing everything we can on your behalf, including submitting claims thoroughly, many times repeatedly, and advocating for fair consideration. I have had to, on several occasions, step out of doing treatment on a patient to take a call from insurance companies so that I can fight for them to cover your treatment.

However, it’s important to understand that your dental insurance is a contract between you and your insurer. While we will continue to assist you in navigating claims, ultimate coverage decisions rest with the insurance company and it seems that they are able to change coverage on a whim.

We remain fully committed to your dental health and will continue to provide transparent estimates of our costs and provide guidance so that you can make informed decisions about your care. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any concerns or questions—we’re here to help.
