Remembering actor Lou Gossett Jr. on his birthday. He is best known for his Academy Award-winning role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman. He also gained recognition for his Emmy Award-winning role as Fiddler in the 1977 miniseries Roots. Gossett was the first African-American to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Gil Scott!!!!!

American Jazz poet Gil Scott-Heron was born on this date in Chicago Illinois. Admired and an inspiration to many Hip Hop Mcs. Considered one of the first peoe to “rap” over a record. Scott-Heron dropped numerous projects from the 70’s and continued active until his death in 2011. Gone But Never Forgotten. HBD!!!
