A new draft Senate bill proposes changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) – the nation’s primary chemical safety law.

TSCA requires the EPA to review chemicals for safety before they’re widely used in products found in our homes, schools and workplaces.

This follows a House proposal in January, meaning changes to TSCA are now being considered in both chambers of Congress.

Strong chemical safeguards protect all of us – and they’re worth speaking up for.

Introducing ANHE's new Michigan Nurse Advocacy Coordinator Mia McPherson!

Mia (she/her) is a registered nurse in southeast Michigan specializing in adult oncology and public health nursing. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pursued a minor in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. Recently, she graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Public Health in Population and Health Sciences and a certificate in Environmental Health in Communities.

In her free time, Mia enjoys spending time with loved ones, hiking, visiting art museums, and studying Black art history. She is very excited and honored to continue her relationship with ANHE as their Michigan Nurse Advocacy Coordinator and advance state-level policy priorities related to climate, energy, and public health.

Farmworkers are essential to our food system, yet they experience disproportionate environmental and occupational health risks that often go unseen and unaddressed. Featuring speakers from the Migrant Clinicians Network, the webinar will share environmental and occupational hazards faced by farmworkers, including pesticide exposure, heat-related illness, and workplace injuries. The session will also highlight practical strategies for providing culturally responsive care and improving continuity of care for farmworker communities, taking into account language, migration patterns, and access barriers. Participants will learn actionable steps participants can take to raise awareness and promote safer, healthier conditions for farmworkers and their families.
