Firefighters face significant long-term health risks due to exposure to a variety of toxic chemicals released during fires. These chemicals can be found in smoke, burning materials, and even in firefighting gear. Some of the most concerning include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), PFAS chemicals (forever chemicals), and heavy metals.
