Let's talk about ✨conflict resolution✨

Conflict is a normal part of relationships and doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. In healthy relationships, the resolution of conflict can actually support understanding, connection, and growth between individuals!

Healthy conflict often includes listening to understand, communicating needs respectfully, staying regulated, and focusing on repair instead of “winning.”

Something to consider, is that for those with a history of complex trauma, conflict can often feel unbearably overwhelming or unsafe. The nervous system may respond with shutting down, people-pleasing, withdrawing, or reactivity because past experiences have shown us that conflict meant intense emotional reactions, or even actual danger.

The good news? They can be unlearned over time! With support and practice, it is possible to build safer, more regulated ways of navigating conflict. You do not have to stay stuck in feeling overwhelmed by conflict. Healing can change how it feels and how you respond!

Here's some good practice strategies, from us to you đź’™

Sound Bowl Healing: What’s It All About?

Sound bowl healing (or sound baths) uses calming tones and vibrations from instruments like crystal or Tibetan bowls to support relaxation and mindfulness.

While it’s not therapy, many people find it helpful for:

Relaxation: The sounds may help the body slow down and release tension
Staying present: Focusing on sound can gently pull attention away from racing thoughts
Emotional balance: Some people feel more grounded or “reset” afterward
Stress support: It can be a helpful add-on to other coping skills or therapy work

Everyone experiences it differently, but it can be a simple way to pause and reconnect in a busy day.

Interested in a personal sound bath? Inquire with us today!

People often imagine therapists sitting perfectly poised, notebook in hand, looking polished and professional at all times…

But in reality, therapists are human, just like you. If there's one thing about us that we can share, it's that sometimes you'll catch us sitting cross-legged, curled up in a chair, or ✨ in our sock feet✨. We rarely wear shoes around our office space, and encourage our clients to get as comfortable as they can in session too!

The position may not always look picture-perfect, but the care, attention, and support behind it are always genuine. Shocker, therapy isn’t about appearances. For us, it’s centered around creating a comfortable space where you feel safe, heard, and supported. Here's some therapy humor, from us to you!

Sometimes progress is quiet.

It doesn’t always look like huge breakthroughs, big milestones, or obvious change. Sometimes progress is getting out of bed when everything feels heavy. Sometimes it’s setting one boundary, asking for help, or simply choosing to keep going.

If you’ve been feeling “behind,” remember this: healing and growth are not races. Progress is not measured by how loud or visible it is. In fact, it’s measured by the small, meaningful steps you take, even when no one else can see them.

Give yourself credit for the ways you are growing in silence. The hard days, the slow steps, and the moments you keep trying. They ALL count.

Here's your friendly reminder to be a little more gentle with yourself đź’ź

Taking care of your mental health should feel accessible, convenient, and supportive. Good news, telehealth therapy makes that possible!

Virtual counseling allows you to connect with a therapist from the comfort and privacy of your own space, removing many of the barriers that can make seeking help feel overwhelming. Whether you have a busy schedule, limited transportation, childcare responsibilities, or simply feel more comfortable at home, telehealth offers flexibility while still providing meaningful therapeutic support.

For many people, meeting virtually can reduce the stress of getting to an appointment and make it easier to prioritize mental health in everyday life. It creates space for healing to happen in an environment where you already feel safe.

Support is closer than you think, and you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. If you’ve been considering counseling, this may be the gentle step that helps you begin. Reach out today to get connected. Kathy offers FREE 15-minute consultations!

Who Is Series: April Edition 🧠

Sometimes the struggles we experience on the surface (anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or repeated patterns we can’t seem to break) are rooted in deeper parts of ourselves that may not yet be fully understood.

Carl Jung’s work in Analytical Psychology transformed the way we understand those deeper layers of the human experience. Jung believed that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are influenced not only by conscious choices, but also by unconscious patterns shaped by personal experiences, internal conflicts, and the hidden parts of ourselves we may not easily recognize.

His work introduced concepts such as the 'shadow', which helps explain how the parts of ourselves we suppress can still affect our lives in powerful ways. Or the Archetypes, that offer a framework for understanding common emotional and relational patterns that shape human behavior. Individuation describes the lifelong process of becoming more integrated, self-aware, and whole.

This approach continues to shape the therapeutic process by emphasizing self-awareness, insight, and emotional integration. It reminds us that healing is not just about reducing discomfort. It's about understanding the deeper story beneath our pain.

By exploring those hidden layers with compassion and curiosity, people can begin to make sense of long-standing patterns, reconnect with parts of themselves that have been neglected, and move toward a greater sense of wholeness.

Jung’s legacy teaches us that when we understand ourselves more deeply, we create new opportunities for healing, growth, and lasting change.

Learning to name and understand our emotions can feel a lot like unwinding a tangled ball of yarn. 🧶

At first, everything feels knotted together, and it can be hard to tell where one feeling ends and another begins. We may think we’re “just angry,” when underneath there is hurt. We may feel “stressed,” when what’s really there is fear, sadness, shame, or disappointment.

When we pause to notice what’s happening in our body, what thoughts are surfacing, and what emotions may be underneath the reaction, we begin to separate the strands. As we do that, our emotional world starts to make more sense. The more we practice naming what we feel, the easier it becomes to understand what we need.

Maybe anger is signaling that a boundary was crossed. Maybe anxiety is asking for reassurance. Maybe sadness is revealing loss. Our emotions carry important information, but when they’re all tangled together, the message gets lost.

Pausing enough to unwind that yarn ball helps us respond instead of react. It creates space for self-compassion, clarity, and healthier ways of coping.

So if your emotions feel messy right now, it may simply mean there are knots that need gentle attention.
