OBITUARY: Vance Allen Jouett, 72 of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky died on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Saint Joseph Main in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving children born August 13, 1953, Mt. Sterling Kentucky. He was the second of five children born to the late Sanford and Dorothy Lee Jones Jouett. He was a lifelong member of High St., Christian Church. He was the grandson of the late Bramlett and Mattie Jones and John and Ella Jouett. He attended Dubois school from kindergarten until 5th Grade due to a fire at the school in the summer of 1964. He was one of the first groups of students to integrate into the city schools in Mt. Sterling. He is a proud member of the Mount Sterling High School Class of 1971. He attended Sullivan University and Morehead State University where he received his Associate and Bachelor degrees respectively. He was a CPA for over 20 years working for Medicaid in Frankfort, KY and also worked at H&R Block during tax season. He was a fan of UK Basketball and Football, an avid reader, history lover, and loved spending time with his friends and family. His biggest blessing in life was his wife, Christie, and his four children.
He is survived by his four children, three daughters; Adia Gabrielle, Allison Taylor Lee, and Alyssa Danielle Frances Jouett and a son; Anthony Allen Redmond Jouett, all of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, his bonus children, R’riana, Ja,Kyiah, Legaci Garrett and Shonda Burns all from Mount Sterling, KY; two siblings: a sister, Jennifer Jouett Jackson of Mount Sterling, and a brother, Lanny Jouett (Joetta) of Frankfort; Sister-in-laws; Sheliah Redmond Sterling of Lexington, KY; Clairessa Hamilton (Leon) of Versailles, KY; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Redmond, Jr. of Lexington; a devoted aunt, Sarah Jouett of Mason, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years Christie Redmond Jouett; his parents; Dorothy and Sanford Jouett; his in-laws; Clarence and Sallye Groves Redmond; two siblings; a brother, Mark Jouett and a sister, Doris Burns Carter; a sister-in law, Elizabeth “Libby” Glover, two brothers-in-law, Jackie Sterling and Walter Jackson.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Christian Church, 402 Commerce Circle, Mount Sterling, KY, with Reverend Jerry Jones, Reverend Darrell Hayden and Reverand preceding, with burial to follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Friends may visit from noon to service time on Tuesday, February 10.

Robert Morton, age 70, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away peacefully January 27, 2026, at UK Health Care, Lexington, KY. Robert was born January 10, 1956, in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late Clell and Eva McCoy Morton. He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School. Robert was employed at A.O. Smith and then Toyota Motor Manufacturing for 32 years. He was a talented artist, a great musician and a master Rook player. He loved antiquing with his wife, arrowhead hunting and rooting for the CATS. Robert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lawson Morton of Mt. Sterling; 3 sons: Jason (Jan) Morton of Mt. Sterling, Ryan Morton of Mt. Sterling, Hayden (Jocelyn) Morton of Mt. Sterling; 1 daughter: Jessica Morton Ingram of New Mexico; 1 step-daughter Melody Rogers (Chris) Noel of Owingsville; 4 granddaughters: Lindsey Morton, Charleigh Morton, Payton Noel and MaKenna Noel; 1 grandson: Jacob Cortez; brother by choice: Bruce (Lisa) Fentress; very special friends: Jerry Gibbs, Knox Haynes and Lee Corey; his many friends from Toyota who made his final days so much easier for him; and his precious pets who he loved dearly: Little Bit, Allie, Winston and Lola.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by 1 brother James Morton; his paternal grandparents Mose and Lida Morton; his maternal grandparents Roy and Gracie Brandenburg McCoy.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Bruce Fentress and Rick Back.

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Jeffery Leroy Snyder, age 59 of Jeffersonville, KY. Jeffery was born on January 7, 1967, in Erie County, PA, the son of Linda Murray-Snyder and Richard ‘Sam’ Snyder. He grew up in Reynoldsville, PA, and graduated from Dubois Area Senior High school in 1985. After graduating High School, Jeff enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served for 8 years. Jeff was a decorated Navy Veteran with a vast love for his country. In his younger years, Jeff was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and found great enjoyment in riding his bike. In his free time, Jeff enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jeff cherished his family and deeply cared for his dogs. He was very kind, loving, and he loved to make people laugh.
Jeffery is survived by his son, Jeffery ‘Eric’ (Chelsea) Snyder; 3 grandchildren: Oliver, Teagan and Alistair Snyder; his mother, Linda Snyder; 3 siblings: Mandy (Kelly) Snyder, Eric Snyder, and Jessica Snyder; his nephew, Dalton Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard ‘Sam’ Snyder; 3 siblings: Kimberly Snyder, Kelly Snyder, and Stephen Snyder.
His family, and those that knew him will hold tight to his contagious laugh, free spirit, and his dedication to those he loved.

Sandra May Wilson Conn, age 63, of Salt Lick, KY, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at UK St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, KY. Sandra was born December 17, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Charles and Pauline Wilson. Sandra was formerly employed at Jockey International. She was a Christian and true believer.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Jeffrey Conn, of Salt Lick and 1 sister Pam Johnson of Jeffersonville.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Robbie Conn.

Alonzo White, age 91, of Frenchburg, KY, passed away at home on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Alonzo was born in Louisa, KY on December 26, 1934, to the late Clarence and Darthula Tackett White. Alonzo was the widower of Pauline Williams White and they were blessed with 6 children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alonzo was proud to have served his country in the Army. He was previously employed at Avon- Bluegrass Military Depot. He was an avid woodworker and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Alonzo was a member of the Full Gospel Word of God.

Alonzo is survived by 2 daughters: Donna (Dale) Stiltner of Frenchburg and Pam (John) Hesselbrock of Mt. Sterling; 3 sons: Doug (Carol) Caskey of Salt Lick, Greg Caskey of Frenchburg and Darryl (Diana) Caskey of Morehead; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister: Doris (Lloyd) Ballard of Means; 3 brothers: Eugene White of Jeffersonville, Hubert White of Means and Ralph White of Means and son in law J.T. Shepherd.
Besides his parents, Alonzo was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Williams White; 1 daughter Betty Sue Shepherd; 1 brother Harold White and 1 sister Charlene Tufono.

Elizabeth “Beth” Renee Hart, age 49, of Mt. Sterling, passed away at home Monday, December 29, 2025. Beth was born in Paris, KY on November 15, 1976 to the late Oval R Yazell and Helen Fletcher Yazell. She was of the Christian faith.
Beth is survived by her son Hunter Hart of Central City, KY, her mother Helen Yazell of Mt. Sterling; her sister Crystal (John) Baker of Bourbon Co., niece Jacqueline (John) Moore of Beattyville; great nieces & nephews: Gabrielle, Malachi, Abigail, Josalynn; her half-sister Rebecka Yazell and half-brother Jeremiah Yazell.

Vicki Lynn Botts Darnell, age 71, passed away surrounded by love on December 29, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1954, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, to the late Herbert and Mattie Botts. Vicki was married to Michael Darnell, her loving husband of 42 years. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
Vicki devoted 28 years of her career to the Montgomery County Board of Education, where she touched countless young lives. Known affectionately by her students as “Mrs. D,” she was admired for her kindness, patience, and deep love for children.
A woman of strong faith, Vicki was baptized at Greater First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, KY but later became a devoted member of High Street Christian Church in Mt. Sterling. She generously shared her musical talents as a pianist and choir director, roles she cherished and fulfilled with joy and devotion.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mattie Botts, and her brothers, Herbert Anthony “Tony” Botts and Timothy Botts.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Darnell; her children, Michelle Hunt of Arlington, Texas (Theresa) and Christopher Darnell of Cincinnati, Ohio; her bonus daughter, Andrea Jones of Lexington, Kentucky; and her beloved granddaughter, Myari Malan, who was truly the apple of her eye, her baby sister Jennifer Botts of Fishers, Indiana and brother in law Jack Darnell; her beloved uncle John Botts, her best friend since elementary school, Wilnetta Pleasant and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vicki had an endless love for children and animals, and her gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Vicki’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Lexington Humane Society.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Officiated by Rev. Darrell Hayden.

Jody Hudson Treadway, age 73, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away on December 25, 2025. Jody was born on May 29, 1952, to the union of the late Roy Hudson and Edna Margie Burris Hudson. She was the widow of Tommy Treadway. She was of the Christian faith and attended Antioch Christian Church.

Jody is survived by two daughters, Dawn Treadway (Michell Wilson) of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Elizabeth Treadway (Jimmy Rothwell) of Mt. Sterling, KY; one brother, Dudley Hudson of Frankfort, KY; five grandchildren, Hannah Sorrell (Sierra Marcum), Morgan Woosley (Eric Peters), Kristin Woosley (Wayne Smith), Madiline Woosley and Chris (Jackie) Ritchie; a special grandson, Michael Rothwell; one sister in law, Wanda Davis; three great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jimmy Dale Murphy, age 71, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away on December 25, 2025. Jimmy was born on December 22, 1954, to the late James Clifford Murphy and Pearl Marie Short Murphy. Jimmy was of the Christian faith.

Jimmy is survived by three sisters Linda Oldfield (Mike Schwacke) of Sebering, FL, Marcelle Vivian of Mt. Leonard “Mo” Martin, age 78, of Jeffersonville, KY, passed away peacefully at home with his family around him on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Leonard was born in Mt. Sterling on December 30, 1946, to the late William and Martha Watkins Martin. Though he was a retired truck driver, Leonard was a ‘Jack Of All Trades’ and could do just about anything. He and Flora, his bride of 60 years, were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild! His family and his faith meant everything to Leonard. He was a faithful member of the Gateway Church of God right up to the end.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of Flora Hall Martin of Jeffersonville; 3 daughters: Bonnie (Larry) Bishop of Jeffersonville, Sandy (Jeff) Littleton of Mt. Sterling, Kristal (David) Powell of Clay City; 6 grandchildren: Stacy (Rob) Carr of Montana, Lauren (Kenny) Harding of Mt.
