Frankie Everett Huff, age 46, of Jeffersonville, passed away at home on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Frankie was born in Lexington, KY on March 9, 1980, to Donnie and Violet Kay Johnson Huff. Frankie worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
Frankie is survived by his mother Violet Johnson Huff of Jeffersonville; 2 brothers: Stanley “Eddie” Huff of Jeffersonville and Preston Huff of Jeffersonville; 1 sister: Janet (Daniel) Burton of Owingsville; 1 niece-Danielle (Bryan Rogers) Burton of Richmond; 1 nephew-Josh (Ashley Adkins) Burton of Owingsville; 2 great nieces: Layla and Laci Burton of Owingsville.
Frankie was preceded in death by his father, Donnie Huff.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.

Glenna Kay Walker Ison, age 72, of Nicholasville, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, KY. Glenna was born in Ashland, KY on March 24, 1954, to the late Clatis and Louise Phillips Walker. Glenna held many positions in the Kentucky education system including teacher in the Montgomery and Fayette County schools, Assistant Principal in Fayette County and a Professor at Morehead State University. Her family was everything to her. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, cherished time spent with her college sorority sisters and was an avid quilter. She was a member of First Baptist Church Mount Sterling.
Glenna is survived by her daughter Sara Ison (James Stamm) of Lexington; her son Joshua (Mackenzie) Ison of Greenup; 2 grandchildren: Reed Noel Ison and Jack Allen Ison; 4 sisters: Helen Stevens of Olive Hill, Faye Barber of Lexington, Dorothy (Charlie) Callahan of Lexington, Noreen (Mike) Flannery of Olive Hill; sister-in-law: Debbie Walker of Olive Hill; 1 brother Clatis (Shelia) Walker, Jr. of Gilbertville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Jack Ison; 2 sisters: Susie Cox and Frances Johnson; 2 brothers: Keith Walker and Neely King .
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7th at First Baptist Church Mount Sterling located at 925 Woodford Drive. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Officiated by Chris Wells.
Burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY.

Hazel B Crump Purvis, age 86, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Mt. Sterling Health & Rehab. Hazel was born August 16, 1939, in Bath County to the late Taylor and Betsy Barber Crump. She was the widow of Bascom Gudgell Purvis. Hazel dedicated her life to the care of her ever-growing family and also as a nurse’s aid at Marion General Hospital. She was of the Christian faith.
Hazel is survived by 2 daughters: Audrey Weitsch of Lexington and Sharon (Danny) Updike of Mt. Sterling; 1 son-Chad Purvis of Mt. Sterling; 6 grandchildren: Kevin Schenk, Craig Schenk, Jessica Becraft, Jason Fair, Christina Updike and Daniel Updike; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 sister-Lena (Dick) Haley of Andrews, Indiana; 1 brother-Robert Crump of Morehead.
Other than her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by 1 son-Gary Purvis; 1 daughter-Angela Crouch; 3 brothers: Gene Crump, Ewell Crump, Howard Crump; 2 sisters: Lucille Crump and Geneva Richmond.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 1st, at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Sean Bailey.
Burial to follow at Longview Cemetery, Bethel, KY.

Dorothy Edith Lawill Byrd, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at Clark Regional Hospital, Wi******er, KY. Dorothy was born October 30, 1944, in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late George Willous and Stella Vina Yazell Lawill. Dorothy loved caring for her family and found a special joy in her grand and great grandchildren. She was a faithful follower of God and taught Bible class at Howards Mill Church of God and the Christian Assembly of God churches for fifty-four years.
Dorothy is survived by 2 daughters: Teresa Gayle (Gary) Blevins of Mt. Sterling and Donna Denise (James) Parker of Mt. Sterling; 1 son: Billy Joe Byrd “Joey” Jr. of Mt. Sterling; 6 granddaughters: Ashley Nicole (Jeremy) Smith, Dorothy Denise Blevins, Rachel Elaine Blevins, Jessica Renee Wells, Megan Jo (Kohl) Faulkner and Caitlyn Grace (Ryan) Miller; 1 great granddaughter-Sophia Grace Vance; 5 great grandsons: Bentley Masen Smith, Grady Trent Faulkner, Miles Edward Faulkner, William Chase Vance and Cody James Miller; and several special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of forty years Billy Joe Byrd, Sr.; 5 brothers: Stanley Lawill, George Lawill, Jr, Clayton Lawill, Elgin Lawill and Calbert Lawill; 4 sisters: Stella Lawill, Ruby Reed, Julia Willoughby and Pearl Tolson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30th at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Officiated by Pastor Grant Cannoy. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29th at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals.

Shirley Parks Roe, age 70, of Mt. Sterling, passed away at St. Joseph Main in Lexington, KY on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Shirley was born June 2, 1955, in Greenup, KY to the late Narvel and Betty Mae Misner Parks. Shirley dedicated her life to caring for her family and anyone who needed her. She loved spoiling her grand and great grandchildren. She was a member of the John Saw Pentecostal church.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Tina (Lowell) Keeton of Jeffersonville; her son Paul Douglas Roe of Morehead; 4 grandchildren: Crystal Martin, Noah Roe, Jada Roe, Anthony Roe; 2 great grandchildren: River Roe and Waylon Roe; 3 sisters: Linda Manning of Florida, Ada Jones of Jeffersonville and Vickie (Jim) Rister of Jeffersonville; 3 brothers: Jerry (Betty) Parks of Jeffersonville, Sammy (Bonnie) Parks of Jeffersonville and Curtis (Martha) Parks of Mt. Sterling.

Thressa “Tessie” Rose Young, age 76, of Jeffersonville, KY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Tessie was born in Hazel Green, KY on April 2, 1950, to the late Albert and Ruby Patrick Rose. Tessie retired from Chrysler after working there for 30 years. Two of Tessie’s passions in life were gardening and quilting, where she grew beautiful flowers and made even more beautiful quilts for her family and friends.
Tessie is survived by her son Mike (Penny) Rose of Davenport, Florida; her partner Harry Bowen of Jeffersonville, KY; 3 stepdaughters: Tina Shrock of Indiana, Robin Rose of Indiana, Kelly Ramsey of Indiana; 5 sisters: Cleo Crase of Carlisle, Ohio; Mary Ann Fraley of Mt. Sterling, Judy Hillard of Georgetown, Fern Bridges of Stamping Ground and Vicki Miller of Georgetown; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Tessie was preceded in death by her husband John Young; 1 sister Genelle McKeehan and 5 brothers: Justice Rose, Jimmy Rose, Gene Rose, Bobby Rose and Danny Rose.
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 10th at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. Officiated by Chaplin Dan Connell.

Phyllis Lawson Collins, age 90, of Mt. Sterling, KY, Passed away peacefully at home Sunday, April 5, 2026. Phyllis was born in Wolfe County, KY on January 6, 1936, to the late William and Lucy Lawson. Phyllis was the office manager for their family business-Collins Builders. She loved U.K. basketball, horse racing and to entertain people. She was of the Christian faith.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Tina Collins of Mt. Sterling; granddaughters Sylvia Collins of Mt. Sterling and Stephanie (Ian) Jones of Virginia; great granddaughters Kennedy Jones of Virginia and Shilo Collins Daughtery of Mt. Sterling.
Other than her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Milbert “Buddy” Collins of Mt. Sterling and her son Timmy Collins.
A Graveside service will be Friday, 12:00 p.m. at the Machpelah Cemetery Chapel located at 600 E. Locust Street, Mt. Sterling. Officiated by Rev. Stephanie Moon.

Earl Johnson, age 78, of Jeffersonville, KY passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at St. Joseph Mount Sterling following a short illness. He was born on November 21, 1947, in Owsley County, KY to the union of the late Bedford and Crystal McIntosh Johnson.

He survived by one son, Earl Cohen Johnson; six sisters, Liz Wilson, Susie Young, Bonnie Barnett, Wanda (Wayne) Dieffenbach, Sharon (Brent) Wilson, and Christine (Chuck) Triplett; two brothers, Wally (Gina) Johnson and Sam Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Rose Johnson; one son, Todd Johnson; two sisters Edna Trent and Maggie Thomas Clay; three brothers, B.J. Johnson, Ed Johnson, and Joe Johnson.

Earl loved his family, children, animals, cats, dogs, and he loved to aggravate everyone. He is retired from farming and the Montgomery County Road Department. Earl is a Jeffersonville City Commissioner and of the Christian faith. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday April 7, 2026, at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel in Mount Sterling, KY, officiating will be Brother Tommy Evans. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday April 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

It is with heavy hearts and after years of uncertainty, we announce the passing of James Madison Smallwood, age 31, of Means KY on December 5, 2024. Jimmy was born May 5, 1993, in Mt. Sterling to James and Tamara Jones Smallwood. Jimmy enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, he loved his chickens and his brothers.
Jimmy is survived by his parents James and Tamara of Menifee Co; 4 brothers: Jordan Jones of Menifee Co, Joseph Smallwood of Bath Co., Jaxon Smallwood of Bath Co., Jace Smallwood of Menifee Co.; maternal grandmother Darlene Stamper of Menifee Co., and paternal grandmother Dovie Smallwood of Menifee Co.

David Paul Wheeler, age 74, of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 22, 2026. David was born on September 12, 1951, in Mt. Sterling to the late Lemon and Opal Richardson Wheeler. He was a car dealer for 49 years. He was an amazing father, papaw and brother. His passion was cars as well as watching baseball, basketball and car races.
David is survived by his daughter Stephanie Newton of Mt. Sterling; his son David (Jayla) Wheeler II of Salt Lick; 6 grandchildren: Megan (Kyle) Smith, Kevin Lee Newton II, Jackson Wheeler, Emma Wheeler, Aubreigh Wheeler, Marleigh Wheeler; 3 great grandchildren: Grayson Wheeler, Wyatt Smith and Caroline Smith; 5 sisters: Judy Thomas of Owingsville, Fern Woosley of Mt. Joseph L. Alexander, age 85, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was born October 11, 1940 in Maysville, KY, to the late Lloyd and Catherine Moran. Joseph was the widow of Patricia Updike Alexander. He was an employee of IBM until he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Joseph is survived by special friends Perry & Lisa Orme of Mt. Sterling; his cousin Donny Moran.
Other than his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Alexander; his son Joey Alexander and his daughter Sandy Alexander.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026 at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Officiated by Pastor Chris Wells.
Burial to follow at Maysville Cemetery.
