Take care of your heart during this winter weather. Cold weather strains your body, increasing your heart rate and blood pressure. Strenuous activities like shoveling snow can put you at higher risk for cardiovascular events, like heart attacks. If you must shovel snow, don’t overdo it. Be sure to dress in layers, take breaks and protect your head, ears, hands and feet.

Stay safe and healthy during these snow days. If you experience heart attack symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, or radiating pain in your arm, shoulder, back, jaw or abdomen, stop and call 911 immediately.
