Our curious piggies are raised in the forest where they can root around for bugs, nuts, roots, and weeds. They enjoy lazy days but also sometimes get the zoomies! We regularly move them to fresh spots and the make the forest floor a better place by cleaning it up. They are very happy pigs with this cooler weather moving through!

We’re tired. How about yall?
This season has been full of long days and tough roads (literally bounced the side off of the field trailer one day.)
🌱 The end of the busy season is on the (very distant) horizon. We count down little milestones like “no new chicks in the brooder this week” 😂
But right now it feels like that last stretch of a race where your legs are all jelly and you’re just willing yourself to keep moving forward.
Of course, farming isn’t all golden sunsets and cute baby animals, but the past few weeks were intense. Too hot or too cold. Too wet or too dry. Too early or too late.

💛💛 This week, some sweet kids at the farmers market gave us handmade thank-you cards, a reminder that even on the hard days (weeks??), this work matters. 💛 Truly, HOW CUTE are these??

It is easier with our really great team of people who genuinely like each other. Today Jess led us through the downpour while processing birds. She took the worst of it, and I can’t even imagine how wet and tired she is after that.

If you’re feeling worn down too, know you’re not alone. Here’s to all of us pushing through. We’ll make it.

Dark stormy photos of our “office” today.

A popsicle just doesn’t hit the same until you’ve processed 200 chickens in a heatwave and your boots squish when you walk. Sticky, sweaty, and absolutely worth it. Love our team and thankful for extra hands today from shenkfamilyfarm

There’s magic in lambing season. Every birth. Every first time mom. A deep sense of reverence and gratitude for each new life. We keep a watchful eye, trusting each birth goes smoothly and nature takes the lead. But we’re always close by, ready to lend a hand if needed.
It doesn’t hurt that babies are just so flipping CUTE too 😭🥰 After so many years, the excitement and worry is always there. This season will always fill our hearts with hope, and definitely keep us on our toes! It’s a season of faith, tenderness, and quiet miracles.
