Last Tuesday Dr. Andrus finally got his cast off...even though he still has a couple weeks of hobbling around with his walker, he is improving and will be back to "normal" soon.

He's had to weigh some heavy things and make some hard choices this past week. For the safety of our team and patients, we are following CDC recommendations and will suspend all non emergency care until further notice. This, of course, is not an easy decision as it has been already been a rough couple months following his accident February 3.

Our hope is this change will not last for long, but we will not go back to regular hours until it is deemed safe and responsible to do so. We are still processing previous glasses and contact lens orders and will notify you when they have been received. For those ready to pick up, we will be available to dispense them on Wednesday mornings 9-12.

We can continue to take new contact lens orders and will provide free shipping to your home. We will still be checking messages regularly and will respond as soon as possible.

Please know that when we reopen we will be ready to serve you and your family better than ever. We appreciate all of your support and great reviews, and hope you continue to tell your friends that we are the best place for all your vision needs. Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

With the building concerns over COVID 19, we want to reassure our beloved patients that our team at Valley Vision & Optical will continue to utilize the highest standards of disinfection and sterilization in our practice.

If you or a family member have had any cold or flu symptoms within the past 14 days, please contact our office and we would be happy to reschedule your appointment. This includes feeling ill, fever, cough, vomiting, congestion or sneezing (not allergy related). If you have a compromised immune system or are worried about exposure, we understand and will reschedule.

Please use best practices for illness prevention, which include the following everyday actions:
-Avoid contact with people who are sick
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
-Stay home when you are sick
-Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
-Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
-If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
-Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
-The CDC DOES NOT recommend that people who are well wear a facemask, only those who are sick and or those who are treating the sick, including COVID 19
-If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Valley Vision & Optical will continue to serve patients as always, but will exercise caution as we monitor the CDC and local health departments for updated recommendations. Additionally, here is the link to the official CDC website regarding the Coronavirus: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Stay healthy everyone!

Four weeks ago yesterday, on an icy morning Dr Andrus was in a head on collision on the way to work and taking his kids to school. He's been out recovering with a broken wrist/hand and leg but will be returning to see patients on a light schedule starting tomorrow. We are so happy to have him ready to return. He's had some incredible colleagues step up to fill in for him, our team has been so wonderful, and the outpouring of love and support from the community has been overwhelming. He thanks you so much for your well wishes and patience, and hopes to be back to his regular schedule of seeing patients by the end of March.
