I am excited to announce that I will be starting a new chapter in my professional career. I will be phasing into full-time counseling practice and accepting a limited number of clients over the next few months!
I believe that holistic healing happens in relationships. Our relationship with ourselves & others shapes how we think, feel, and act. Counseling provides the space to explore big issues & develop tools to grow & find joy. We will spend time understanding conflicts, examine past stories & behavior patterns to develop a road map for future success.
I have practiced social work for the past 25 years - spending the past 18 years as a Medical Social Worker in a hospital setting. I moved to Washington from Michigan 6 years ago & have worked at Skagit Regional Health counseling patients & their families in crisis: medical crisis, mental health crisis, patients struggling with addiction, traumatized by accidents, violence, abuse, & neglect. During my career, I have had the opportunity to walk beside people as they took amazing steps into healing & growth. These experiences have shaped who I am as a counselor in my own practice & equipped me to step into difficult spaces with the goal to empower growth & create space to heal.
I graduated from Calvin University with a Bachelors of Social Work in 1996 & obtained a Masters of Social Work from Western Michigan University in 2006. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington.
I live in Mount Vernon with my husband Mike; we have been happily married for 25 years. We have three adult children who are becoming more independent every day. I know my role as a parent is changing from “mom” to mentor as they find their way in the world & I love watching them grow.
My husband & I love adventures & travel & are always looking for new places to explore. We love to spend time in nature, eat great food, and connect with people.
More than anything, I love people. I am compassionate, a good listener who has been described as wise. I welcome people with hospitality that allows them to show up as they are, without judgment, because that is how I love to be treated too.
