September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time to break the silence, reduce stigma, and shine a light on an issue that affects millions of families across the country. Su***de is a leading cause of death in the United States, and its impact is felt deeply in every community. According to the CDC, more than 49,000 people died by su***de in 2022—about one person every 11 minutes. For every life lost, countless others are affected—family members, friends, and entire communities.
At Westchester Community Health Center (WCHC), we are committed to supporting the mental health of our patients and community. Our behavioral health team offers compassionate, confidential counseling and treatment for individuals of all ages. Services are integrated into our primary care model, making it easier to address mental health alongside physical health needs.
Su***de prevention is everyone’s responsibility. By checking in on friends and family, listening without judgment, and sharing resources, we can build a stronger safety net. Remember: you are not alone.
If you or someone you know is in immediate crisis, call or text 988, the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, for free and confidential support 24/7.
At WCHC, we are here to listen, to support, and to walk alongside you on the journey to healing. For more information, please call us at (914) 699-7200 or visit us online at https://westchestercommunityhealthcenter.org/medical-services/behavioral-health/
