Did you know there are online FamilySearch "community groups" on many different subjects, ranging from research groups for different countries and areas (like the Nordic Countries group), to DNA, to the new merge function, and many more. When you're in the program, click on the question mark (top right), then Community, and then Groups. You could, for example, take a screenshot of a line in a foreign record you can't read, then post that in the pertinent community for help translating it. Have fun!

Get the kids in your life involved in family history! It's been found to aid immensely with things like self-esteem. Help them create their own free FamilySearch account. And remember, kids love all they can do in the Activities tab! Just remember:
Anyone 13 years of age and over can sign up for an account.
With parental permission, children ages 8–12 can sign up for accounts.

When using the wonderful FamilySearch program, don't forget there should be only one profile page for each person. If you discover there is a duplicate profile, a merge needs to be done. This can be a tricky process. Use the link below in Comments for a great video that walks you through this updated procedure.

Ever been researching a census or other record and you find another person living near your ancestor with the same surname, but you don't know how they are related? They probably are part of the family you're researching, so make a note about them and you'll probably be able to add them to your family in the future. Use the Collaborate tab (between the Sources and Memories tabs) on your person's page to create a Note for future reference. Be sure to copy & paste the link to the record in your Note.
