We welcomed the first baby of 2026 on January 2. Her name is Estella Lynn, weighing 7 pounds and 2 ounces. Her parents, Hailey and Nate, were very surprised that she was the first baby of the year, as it was not only the second day of the new year, but she wasn't due until Saturday. However, she had plans of making her arrival a little early.

Congratulations to the family!

On behalf of the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital, we are excited to announce the purchase of the Scout Radar Localization System, an innovative technology that enhances precision and comfort in breast cancer surgery. This major advancement amounts to $82,545, which was made possible through the work of the local Go Pink Committee: Barbara Barry, Chair, Amy Brechler, Diane Carioti, Julie Farmer, Brenda Holcomb, Sara Lynn Kerr, Cindy Miller, Marci Pressler, Peggy Snow, and Teresa York. For more than 25 years, the committee’s annual event has raised funds to support breast cancer prevention and treatment.

The Scout uses a tiny reflector and radar technology to precisely locate breast tumors, offering a more comfortable and efficient alternative to traditional wire localization. This results in improved accuracy for surgeons and a more positive experience for patients on the day of surgery.

“We are deeply grateful to the Go Pink Committee for their commitment to advancing breast cancer care close to home,” said Marketing and Development Director, Alice Hutzel. “Because of their support, our patients will benefit from the latest technology available.”

The new system will be implemented in the coming months, furthering KCH’s mission to provide compassionate healthcare service that exceeds the expectations of our community.

For more information about this project, please contact the Foundation for KCH at 740.393.9085.
