đź’™ Coping After Community Tragedy đź’™
In the wake of the recent shooting in Mt. Vernon, many in our community are experiencing a wide range of emotions—grief, anger, fear, confusion, and deep sadness. These feelings are normal responses to trauma, and it’s okay if you or someone you love is struggling right now.
Here are a few ways to care for your mental health in the days ahead:
🌿 Take breaks from the news and social media
Constant exposure can increase anxiety and overwhelm.
🤝 Talk about how you’re feeling
Reach out to a friend, family member, or therapist. Sharing your emotions helps lessen the weight.
📝 Stick to routines
Structure can help bring a sense of calm and stability during uncertain times.
đź’§ Care for your body
Rest, hydrate, eat nourishing foods, and move your body gently if you can.
🙏 Give yourself permission to grieve
There’s no “right” way to process this. Be kind and patient with yourself and others.
If you or someone you know is struggling, our therapists at Dynamic Counseling are here for you. We provide a safe, compassionate space to process trauma and grief.
