I first came to Mira Vista 6 years ago from the San Diego CA area. When I arrived in the Skagit Valley area it reminded me of my hometowns in Southern ID and WY where I was raised. “Small Town Living” - close to the mountains, surrounded by farms, and as a bonus close to the Puget Sound. At that time, our family was in need of a new home - a place to grow, a place to heal, a place to have a community to love us and for us to give back to.
I took on the challenge of, what was at the time, a struggling acute nursing healthcare facility by the name of Mira Vista. I didn’t know a single person in the facility, in the town of Mt. Vernon, Skagit Valley, and more over the state of WA at the time. I came alone without my family and for months dove head long into my work, living out of a hotel and logging long hours 6-7 days a week with the goal and the vision to help build a team that would be the premier care providers in our space, and it has become just that. We have built a family of providers that care for each other above all other things and because of that are able to provide the highest quality care and outcomes possible to the patients and families who trust us in their most acute time of need.
It has been an incredible challenge. It has been a battle at times. It has been a struggle and a frustration many days. It is also a sacred stewardship and a connection with people that not many are blessed to have. I have been so lucky to have been entrusted to this responsibility and opportunity to love the families, the patients, the employees, the neighbors, and the community here. It has been a blessing that I never would have envisioned, and our team together has changed the way that people in the Skagit Valley and surrounding areas see the delivery of care through their own eyes.
As a leadership development company working in the healthcare space, we have a culture of pushing one another for new heights. We look at people not for what they are today, but for what they have the potential to become and do. We strive to balance that pressure and push to grow with sincere support and loyalty. I personally strive to help those around me become better, acquire new education and training, to multiply their talents, and to multiply those people around them to grow and lift in unison. It is life changing. It can change the trajectory of families destinies for generations. It is soo fulfilling and inspiring to be a part of.
At the completion of this past 6 years of being in my role, I now have the challenge and blessing of being an integral part of a new team, in a new city, in a new community, with new team mates, families, and patients. Starting Oct. 1st, I will be moving into the full Administrator-Executive Director role with our sister facility named Puget Sound Transitional Care in Des Moines, WA. This will require me to push out of my comfort zone and the nest I’ve built around me. It will require me to be even better at multiplying my talents and the talents of the those people around me and inspire them with the trust to grow and lift in unison together as well. It is scary to think of all the impending changes, and at the same time, exciting to think of all of the opportunities for good we will have.
Finally, I am so proud of Sama Hart who has worked diligently to prepare herself for the opportunity to join and lead the team at Mira Vista Care Center as the new Administrator. She will be great, she loves and appreciates the team we’ve built, and is looking forward to the opportunities she will have for growth and contribution to the facility, team, community, and our patients as well!
To Mira Vista Care Center, its residents, and families, thank you in every way. I am personally thankful to have the team at Mira Vista as continued partners in WA state as we build our PNW Market and mission. Our patients and families need us to stay focused on them over all things. Let’s continue striving for excellence!
With all of our love and gratitude,
THANK YOU!
Carl and the entire Moody Family
